Leviathan Areas was the name for the ocean surrounding Valordyn and Emsius. Made up of several constituent seas of varying temperature and depth, the Leviathan Areas were so named in recognition of the Leviathan.

The Leviathan Areas bordered the Nautilus Ocean on both its eastern and western sides. To its north, they bordered Atsalur's Ocean.

Oceanography
The Leviathan Areas were known by different names to varying peoples of Valorum and Eidyn. Overall, they consisted of over 1.7 billion square kilometers of water. The immense size of the Leviathan Areas made them incredibly difficult to cross. Travelers from Valordyn would nonetheless eventually successfully navigate the Leviathan Areas and reach Khyorgan in spite of the associated difficulty.

Another complication of the large size and vast spans of uninterrupted water were that the Leviathan Areas generated enormous uninterrupted waves. In some areas these waves were reduced by seamounts or undersea canyons, but elsewhere, they battered the coastlines badly and made them unsuitable for habitation by most mortal races. Barrier islands such as the Cognill Islands could take the brunt of these oceanic forces and spare coastal regions of mainland Eidyn by extension.

The Leviathan Areas were home to numerous types of sea life, including fish and marine invertebrates. Some sealife in the Leviathan Areas stored elemental Ekati within their bodies, such as the Arcanowar, a cnidarian that could spray liquified Ekati to defend itself from predators, or the fish caught in the vicinity of Shui, which had traces of Ekati within their scales. The Leviathan Areas were also inhabited by some truly massive creatures, such as the Godfish and the Harpoon Kraken.

Seas
*Leir Sea - Leir was an ocean inhabited by the Wasari tribe of Water Elves and the Erda tribe of Vulcan Elves. Under the guidance of the whale god Wasa, the Wasari lived in magically crafted towers that high into the sky and deep below the ocean, while on the volcanic and barely habitable Erda Isles, the Erda followed the god Ardas who took the shape of a lava dragon. After conflict between the two tribes escalated to a conflict between their patron deities, the whole of Leir was dried up and turned into a desert.
*Salt Sea - the waters south of Valorum. Here, the Kashima Archipelago could be found. It was known to be home to the immense Godfish, including one named named Namazu who the inhabitants of the Isle of Zakana would sacrifice food tributes to in thanks for it devouring any pirates or invaders who threatened them.
*Magterian Sea - The sea surrounding Emsius. It was home to the Sea Elf nation of Marperio.
**Dariel Sea - A sea in Emsius which separated the regions of Cyrasia and Lithica
The Oreldedar Reaches were a region of Dhelarushick, in Khyorgan, where the primordial Malcide took up residence following the Shattering. Malcide later created the Abomination race, who would form the Golden Empire of Creation and operate from this region.

The Oreldedar Reaches are exposed to the powerful forces of the Nautilus Ocean, with large waves bombarding the mountainous coastline and leaving it bare of vegetation. Further inland, the area is mostly covered in coniferous forests and mountain ranges, as is the case for much of Dhelarushick. Due to its northerly latitude and elevation, it is a bitterly cold region during the winter.

Some Eidynese immigrants attempted to settle this region early in Khyorgan's history but were wiped out by the abominations. Many later travelers and explorers would meet the same fate from that point onward. Shipwrecking here was a likely death sentence, and this did much to preclude trade, exploration, and settlement along Khyorgan's northeastern coasts.
The Earldom of Amicalis was a nation consisting of mostly Humans, Maliekt, and Byn'makha located in eastern extreme of Obreidhion in Khyorgan, founded following a rebellion against a series of brutal emperors in the now-destroyed Empire of the Red Tower.

In adition to Humans, Maliekt, and Byn'makha, other races, such as dwarves and elves, were allowed citizenship, but the general populace retained a negative view of elven culture well into the diesel age. Amicalis was located in Eastern Obreidhion, within southern Khyorgan. The Amicalians were notable for their bright blue Zezaridium architecture and their production of Amicalis Bronze, an iron-copper alloy which is used for tools and armor.

Government
Earls of Amicalis

Amicalis was a federation of nine semi-autonomous regions, which were ruled over by their respective high councils, and presided over by either a count (in the case of the six countship), king (in the case of Gricsyn), or high commissioner (in the case of the Cloudfield Frontier). The regional leaders convened octennially to elect an earl to rule over the country, though it was considered an upset from the early period well into the Steam Era for the moot to go against the assumed line of succession. Earls traditionally ruled in hereditary dynasties, with regional leaders opting to put an outsider in power only in rare cases. The central government was responsible for regulating the military, foreign affairs, and laws & taxes, while the regional governments were responsible for overseeing public works and law enforcement.
Administrative Divisions
*Capital Countship
The Capital Countship was home to the capital city of Amicalis, Erythia. Most of the largest and oldest cities in Amicalis were located in the Capital Countship, and the area was the main target for archaeological and anthropological study of the Adonbaxi civilization.
*Oceanhead Countship
The Oceanhead Countship was the smallest province as well as the least mountainous. There were a number of bogs and marshes here, and the majority of the province's revenue came from fishing.
*Bezard Countship
The Bezard Countship was a large, richly forested region that exported large amounts of wood to the other provinces.
*Cloudfield Frontier
The Cloudfield Frontier was a very high-elevation, mountainous region, home to some of the highest peaks in Khyorgan. The Cloudfield Frontier's mountains were home to Ekati reserves, though mining operations in the region targeted at these deposits were expensive and did not yield adequate profits.
*Amacata Countship
The Amacata Countship was an arid region within the Amacata Desert. The western half of the region was largely uninhabited, while the eastern half had scattered villages sustained by a small but adequate agricultural industry.
*Lerrnahank Countship
The Lerrnahank Countship was a Countship covered by highveld and savanna terrain and dominated by the mining industry. Vast amounts of coal, iron, and copper, among other materials, have been extracted from this region over the years.
*Phaber Countship
The Phaber Countship had a rich agriculture-based economy, exporting meat, grains, vegetables, fruits, wool, and leather to the rest of Amicalis, and was known for its large wetlands and flood meadows.
*Gricsyn
Gricsyn was the homeland of the Maliekt, who governed the region.
*Southern Peaks Countship
The Southern Peaks Countship was a large region extending from the south of the rest of Amicalis along the coast, separating the western savannas and eastern forests. Fishing and whaling were the main industries of this countship, and it was the homeland of the Byn'makha.
*Atonicka
Atonicka was a large island to the east of the Southern Peaks Countship and Gricsyn, it was covered by large jungles and hosted giant creatures and deadly diseases. As a result of its hostile nature, Atonicka was not thoroughly explored until the Diesel Age.

Technology and magic
Amicalis had been a technologically forward nation since its creation, as the races comprising its main support base could not match their elven oppressors in magical skill. Slave rebels invented primitive dry docks to repair ships, and simple gunpowder weapons for use in combat.

During the Khyorganese Renaissance, Amicalis became one of the most forward nations in terms of steam technology, most notably utilizing steam engines to power ships, including powerful casemate ironclad warships. Amicalis' steam technology also enabled the use of trains, steam wagons, and traction engines to move cargo and passengers, as well as steam shovels and steam hammers for industrial applications.

Amicalis remained a world leader in technology during the Diesel Revolution, as petroleum-based combustion engines replaced steam engines in industrial, transport, and military usage. Automobile transport became more popular and replaced camels and buggies following the popularization of Diesel.

Amicalis has used gunpowder for infantry and cannons, and has made use of hot shot, carcass shot, chain shot, canister shot, and grape shot.

Though Amicalis had access to comparatively advanced sublunary technology, the nation's prowess in the arts of magic and magitek remained lacking throughout its existence. While spellcasters certainly existed within Amicalis, the military employed few mages, and implementation of magic in industrial fields was practically nonexistent compared to steam, and later diesel, technology.

Unique Weaponry and Equipment
*Amicalis Seax - A large seax usually inscribed with poems or other verses with religious or personal significance, often carried as a backup weapon complimenting a more specialized implement.
*Headhunter's Lance - A jagged lance made of sharp, pyramidal segments, usually made of hepatizon, giving it a dark purple color in age. Being able to be used both in mounted combat and on foot, as well as handled with either one hand or two hands, the headhunter's lance is a very versatile weapon.
*Mororage Howdah Pistol - A boxy howdah pistol with two vertically aligned barrels from the Mororage Archipelago off the coast of the Capital Countship.
*Rose Mace - A mace with a rose-shaped head, and a spiky, green bronze haft; The mace's head is iron or amicalis bronze, but is usually gilded to take on a rose-like color.
*Bezard Backsword - A long backsword with an elaborate guard, developed for vastly superior piercing capability over the seax, allowing for better performance against armored opponents.
*Halberdier's Sword - A sword with it's design derived from halberd blades, combining one spear-like spike suitable for stabbing with a separate axe blade enabling slashing attacks. The halberdier's sword was not regularly used by halberdiers, as the name may suggest, but was instead favored by adventurers and messengers in remote areas as it's axe blade could be used for slashing through foliage or cutting up wood if other tools were lost.
*Roughman's Sword - Also known as the roughsword, this weapon has a "wavy" blade, ostensibly to focus more energy into a smaller point of impact when the sword is used for slashing. This weapon has a reputation of being used mostly by monster hunters, criminals, and other rugged individuals, hence it's name.

Agriculture and Husbandry
Amicalis, surrounded by infertile desert, had a significant agricultural industry, both for its own population and for export (historically being forced to export large amounts food to the Empire of the Red Tower); As such, Amicalis benefited from numerous technological advancements relating to farming and ranching.

The most frequent crops grown on Amicalis farms were maize, apples, and radishes for food, and cotton and abaca for textile purposes. In terms of ranching, several varieties of poultry and hogs were cultivated for meat, while a handful of bovine species provided not only meat, but also milk and leather, to the nation.

In addition to animals intended for slaughter, more utilitarian camels, donkeys, and fearsome deinotheriate pachyderms were raised as beasts of burden and war. Though the advent of powerful motorized steam machines such as trains, steam shovels, and traction engines largely expelled the aforementioned animals from industrial applications, they remained popular as personal transport and, in some cases, as war animals, until diesel engines outmoded both competitors in industrial, military, and transport fields.

While technological advancement diminished the usefulness of some aspects of agriculture, it was overall immensely beneficial: Traction engines, cotton gins, steel plows, and the discovery of Mendelian Inheritance shaped renaissance-era Amicalian agriculture to be radically distinct, and far more efficient & productive, than before their implementation. Following the renaissance, combustion engines allowed farmers more powerful diesel-fueled tractors for plowing their fields and reliable transport for themselves and their supplies in the form of automobiles.

Culture
Amicalis' people and culture evolved throughout the years, with strong influences coming from their historical struggle against the Empire of the Red Tower, their Krizovist faith, the influences of various dynasties and rulers, and technological advents. Amicalis had Krizovist public holidays, as well as a day of celebration aligning with Amicalis' independence from the Empire of the Red Tower known as Tower Day, in which a red-painted tower made out of weak materials built the previous day was destroyed yearly.

Human men of Amicalis usually sported short hair, sometimes with cut-back hairlines, often in combination with unshaven stubbles or beards; Men in Amicalis with long hair almost always sported beards. Human women in Amicalis generally had a more diverse lineup of hair styles and lengths then men, but typically kept their hair much longer then their male counterparts.

Apparel
In terms of apparel, inland men and women alike often wore durable belted trousers made from woven cotton, originally made for the purpose of protecting the wearer from thorns and burs during travel through wooded areas and grasslands, though the styles of weave changed throughout time, with older clothing being plain woven canvas and renaissance-era and post-renaissance trousers were more tightly woven duck cotton. Collared shirts were frequently worn in the warmer months when a jacket is not required, but are diminish in number compared to plain, collarless shirts in cold conditions, as jackets often sported collars of their own. For footwear, tough leather boots ending in a square toe never fell out of favor with Amicalis' human population in the lower elevation inland areas, though more mountainous people sported fur-lined iron, steel, or bronze boots instead; In contrast, humans and other miscellaneous races of man living close to the coast usually wore open sandals due to the sandy beaches.

As far as headwear goes, slouch hats, brimmed to protect against the sun and with one side pinned up to allow the user to carry a weapon or tool over their shoulder, became popular after the Grand Amicalis Army equipped their musketeers with them during the med renaissance. In hotter desert regions, lighter straw hats were preferable, as they were less prone to overheating the wearer's head.

In more formal situations, a hot-colored (red/gold/orange), grey, or black silk Justacorps coat in combination with silk breeches and formal footwear was the most acceptable garb in Amicalis for the races of man, though navy sailors and army soldiers often wore their assigned uniforms to formal events instead, and mages officially employed by the government of Amicalis or any of its countships could wear traditional robes to such gatherings. During the Diesel Age, the Justacorps became a common garb even for everyday wear out in public, especially among businessmen.

The women of human-esque races typically wore dresses or long, flowing robes reaching down to their legs, both in casual and formal settings, with only activities or situations calling for specific activewear as common exemptions to this rule. Some women specifically chose to intentionally shirk this norm, especially those female politicians who hoped to project power by adopting more masculine clothing.

In Red Tower culture, women and men generally dressed identically, and as such, cultural perceptions of elven women who wore masculine garb and of Tarrbuskan or Alraithian women who did the same were quite different in Amicalis (though more effeminately-dressed males were not generally perceived with the same dynamic).

As industrialization and business increased during the Khyorganese renaissance, traditions were liberalized as working women often needed to wear more work-ready attire. Public officials continued to make political implications using fashion, hinting that they were strong traditionalists by wearing (or having their female family members wear) more orthodox robes, while those hoping to show support for workers and laborers might sport more modern, liberalized outfits.

Maliekt, as a result of having an exoskeleton, typically wore no conventional clothes, but did oftentimes don at least one belt or sash for utility, sometimes having several rows and columns of diversely colored and styled sashes and belts. For byn'makha, their natural scales provided protection against the elements, but they often sported belted shorts to be able to carry equipment; Byn'Makha who had served in the army or navy of Amicalis wore uniform shirts for the purpose of displaying medals awarded during their service, and a black or blue silk garment was often worn by byn'makha to formal events, but the byn'makha had more social leeway in their dress than the races of man.

Sailors, both military and civilian, developed a noticeable subculture in coastal areas during the renaissance era, wearing white trousers, shirts, and sometimes hats, with contrasting black leather boots, belts, and collared jackets, usually sporting a belt buckle prominently featuring intricately-carved maritime imagery. Sailors could be sighted carry metal belaying pins ashore with them, sometimes accompanied by more covert rigging knives, especially when docked in rough ports.

Another notable subculture was that of the swamp-dwellers of the Oceanhead Countship and Bezard Countship, who traditionally wore all brown clothing and replaced traditionally leather wear with reptile skin from the giant snakes and crocodilians living in the swampy regions in and near Boegaden.

Race and Culture
Humans
The humans of Amicalis were largely made up of two ethnic groups:
*The Tarrbuskans were a fair-skinned, dark-haired ethnicity, traditionally large and strong in nature. They were native to "Tarrbusk", an area in northeastern Amicalis consisting of the Capital, Oceanhead, Bezard, and Phaber countships and the Cloudfield Frontier, though Tarrbuskans also made up the majority of humans in Gricsyn and Atonicka.
*The second group, the Alraithians, were native to Alraith, a region in the west made up of the Amacata, Lerrnahank, and Southern Peaks countships. The Alraithians were pale people with wooly, platinum blond hair. The Alraithians were generally shorter in appearance, with broad noses and short foreheads.

Humans usually constituted a majority population of Amicalis, though on occasion only held plurality status. Humans were known for their technological innovations and engineering feats. Tarrbuskans were stereotypically shipbuilders, stonemasons, carpenters, and inventors, and later mechanics and engineers. Alraithians were often painted as farmers, ranchers, and hunters, having tamed the vesonts (a type of pachyderm native to Alraith), but they were, by extension of being human, often associated with machinery and technological advancement. Though these were stereotypes, human cities were indeed quick to embrace technology, especially compared to elven communities.
Elves
In Amicalis, the vulcan elves, who once ruled Amicalis under the Empire of the Red Tower, traditionally lived mostly in self-segregated communities, separate and isolated from non-elven society. Vulcan elf communities usually fought to maintain their own municipal government even as towns grew into great cities and engulfed elven communities on all sides. The separation between vulcan elves and non-elves grew as humans, maliekt, and byn'makha embraced new technological innovations such as gunpowder, steam power, assembly lines, and the automobile, while the traditionalist elves largely rejected such inventions.

Vulcan elves and non-elves, at least the byn'makha, maliekt, and humans, often viewed eachother with mutual distrust and suspicion when outside of their own mutually exclusive communities. The strange looks and suspicion of the non-elven population often fell upon other elven subraces as well, though the vulcan elves tolerance of other elven subraces was inconsistent.

Sand elves, native to the Amacata Desert, were exceptional, and were typically treated the same as non-elves both in elven and non-elven communities, at least in Amicalis' more western regions.

Byn'makha
The byn'makha mostly lived in the eastern half of the Southern Peaks Countship. Being a semi-aquatic race, they were strongly associated with the sea and traditionally lived in coastal or wetland areas. Byn'makha sailors were frequently seen sailing up and down the coast of Amicalis, and became associated with the sea and related professions (fishermen, whalers, sailors) in Tarrbusk and Alraith.

Byn'makha cities substituting roads with waterways and canals were a common sight in the Southern Peaks Countship, but the byn'makha could also integrate into human society fairly easily. Byn'makha typically became a more and more rare minority the further inland one went into Amicalis, due to their general affinity for swimming and being in close proximity to water, two things the harsh deserts and savannas of Alraith usually did not offer.

Like humans and maliekt, the byn'makha were often at odds with the vulcan elves, due to their bloody history of slavery and war.

Maliekt
The maliekt lived in their own constituent country, Gricsyn. The maliekt, like byn'makha, Tarrbuskans, and Alraithians, were seldom tolerated in elven communities, but easily integrated into human or byn'makha villages. Many maliekt found work outside of their homeland as miners and quarry workers, thanks to their natural adaptations allowing them to operate easily underground.

Though the maliekt lived throughout Gricsyn, Alraith, the Southern Peaks Jarldom, and most of Tarrbusk, they rarely lived in the Oceanhead Jarldom, where the swampy, wet ground was disadvantageous to their burrowing lifestyle. Elsewhere, hotels often offered basement-level rooms for maliekt guests, and maliekt homeowners and tenants in non-maliekt towns usually used the ground-floor level of their homes as storage, and lived in their basements and sub-basements.

Other groups
Dwarfs were a small minority and rarely seen in Amicalis, but could easily be mistaken for short humans due to the similar appearances of the two races, making it rather easy for them to integrate into Amicalis. As dwarfs typically tended to be more technologically inclined and less magically inclined, they had much in common with the Tarrbuskans.

Orcs lived in Amicalis in small numbers when the Empire of the Red Tower arrived to Amicalis, isolated from the main Orcish migration to the Desert of Lexighor. Instead of enslaving orcs, the Red Tower simply attempted to exterminate them all. After the Red Tower's rule came to an end, the orcs continued to live in small tribes in the Bezard Countship, traditionally relying on subsistence hunting and foraging to survive. Orc shamans rarely came into Tarrbuskan or vulcan elf villages to trade for supplies they could not obtain in the winter, but generally did not like to rely on others.

Environment
Geography
Amicalis was a mountainous nation, with the Eastern Range being responsible for much of the geography of the nation; The mountainous nature of the region was exemplified by the Cloudfield Frontier, a very high-elevation region consisting almost entirely of fierce mountains known for their dangerous conditions, especially in the winter. The barren stone geography gave way to more benign terrain going east into the forested Bezard Countship and Capital Countship, the Phaber Countship, which was covered in wide open grasslands and serene wetland areas.

Also in the eastern area of the country lied the less-hospitable Oceanhead Countship, covered in dense, overgrown swamplands and bayous, and home to a variety of dangerous wildlife, and the rocky, barren constituent nation of Gricsyn, home to the Maliekt people.

The Eastern Range separated the fertile regions of Amicalis from the veld terrain making up most of the Lerrnahank Countship and Southern Peaks Countship, and the arid and hostile Amacata Desert making up almost all of the Amacata Countship. Both the Lerrnahank and Southern Peaks Countship were covered largely by savanna areas and were home to large pachyderms and other impressive wildlife, though the Southern Peaks Countship was moreso known as the home of the Byn'makha people who lived along its coast.

Several of Amicalis' territories also bordered the Nautilus Ocean, with cliff-laden beaches in the southernmost region giving way to sandy shores in Gricsyn. The coast of the Oceanhead Countship, and the very small coastal area of the Bezard Countship, were largely covered in bayous and swamps. Amicalis' coasts gave it access to a myriad of maritime plunder, and the island chains to the east of Gricsyn, the Phaber Countship, and Capital Countship provided a barrier against the sea's dangerous seasonal storms.

The island of Atonicka, separated from contiguous Amicalis by a wide ocean, was ecologically distinct, and covered by thick jungles. Atonicka served as a hurricane barrier to the Southern Peaks Countship, and its eastern zones were ravaged by tropical storms.
Thunderhead Sea
The Thunderhead Sea was a region situated within the Bezard Countship, Cloudfield Frontier, Lerrnahank Countship, and Phaber Countship. A constant, slow-moving cyclone is anchored to the sea, and covers the region in a thick, permanent cloud cover. Floating islands, and a few very large floating landmasses, hung suspended between the lower and upper layers of clouds, rarely catching glimpses of the blue waters below or blue skies above.

The Thunderhead Sea had distinctive, grey stone brick architecture, often of truly elephantine proportion, built as a stronghold to resist attacks from the Empire of the Red Tower.

Ecosystem
Flora
Western veld and desert
*Titan Baobab - The Titan Baobab was one of the largest baobab trees found throughout Erudite.
*Orange Creosote - A creosote bush with orange flowers.
*Starry Cottonwood - A cottonwood tree with black bark speckled with white, giving it an appearance similar to the night sky.

Eastern forests and wetlands
*Vloedwood - This tree is built to survive underwater in regions that flood, even if completely submerged. These trees would persist in reservoirs created by dam construction.
*Doenwood - A tall, wide tree that produces a black resin, its heavy wood is sometimes used for construction.
*Spier Cedar - A tree used frequently for construction due to its resistance to rot and the effects of its cedar oil against insects.
*Versian Elm - A hardwood tree used for keel and frames in boatbuilding.

Fauna
Western veld and desert:
*Alleghor: A close relative of the Werewyrm, the Alleghor is a serpentine predator found in the Amacata Desert and historically across much of Khyorgan's deserts. It tunneled in the sand and sprayed poison at its prey. It could also fatally electrocute animals.
*Buffalox - A common ranch animal known for its hide and meat.
*Common Swiftrunner - A gliding, herbivorous biped found south of the Gomchar Sea, they fed on grass, trees and shrubs, though in a drought they would eat almost anything.
*Oxtaur - A subspecies of Buffalox. Oxtaur have larger horns and are far more aggressive.
*Pentacorn - A massive beast similar to a cross between a rhinoceros and a ceratopsian dinosaur, the Pentacorn is a large herbivore found mainly in the savanna. Though generally a peaceful grazer, but its deadly head of horns has been the last thing many an overconfident Jaëger ever saw.
*Savannah Thaurogont - A large herbivore comparable in size to an Eidynese Elephant.
*Thoach - A nocturnal hippopotamus known to charge people, and capable of swift charges despite its semiaquatic nature.
*Tonittor - A gigantic turtle that preyed on all but the largest of pachyderms, and relied on its armored shell to protect it from their hooves, tusks, and teeth. The Tonittor's shell protected it from swords, maces, axes, arrows, and low caliber gunfire, but its immense weight obligated the Tonittor to be an ambush predator.
*Vesont - A large deinotheriate terrible beast pachyderm, used as a war animal by Amicalis prior to the Diesel Age.
*Werewyrm - Found in deserts to the east, these huge, serpent-like beasts are known to be very similar to the Sentinels. Whether or not they're related or the product of convergent evolution is unknown.

Eastern forests and wetlands:
*Burbarst - Large hogs, some of which were domesticated into Amicalis Pigs.
**King Burbarst - An especially large, but rare subspecies that could grow to a maximum of 1,100 lbs (500 kg) and 5 feet tall (1.65 meters) at the shoulder.
*Entherd - A large gavialid crocodilian, between 3.5 and 5 meters (11.5 and 16.5 ft) in length and with a green coloration, only found in the northern bogs of the Oceanhead and Bezard countship.
*Hinust - Occupying the same spot in the ecosystem as the Jaëger did in Lexighor and Andavronia, the Hinust was a furry, somewhat canine-esque predator with facial features similar to a mole, which hunted in packs. Hinust were a light brown color, with a white underbelly and black stripe across their back, and weighed around 60-75 lbs, or 27 to 34 kg.
*Blomoros - A crustacean with a somewhat irregular pentagon shell, colored pink and white, the Blomoros would sunbathe in the day and then submerge itself in the cooler depths, attracting leeches to eat with its false body heat.

Mountains
*Climber Bear - A human-sized tan bear adapted to climb rocks.
*Gomlid - A red, bipedal amphibian with opposable thumbs.
*Tonacer - A metallic, chrome creature, whos carapace reflected the harmful rays from the sun and snow. The Tonacer had a square body and four legs, with five eyes.

Atonickan Jungles
*Dyncha - A poisonous frog that often stood on two legs, and can grow to considerable size.
*Serther - A titanic serpent, that can grow to 35 feet in length.
*Tanage - A brilliantly colored Casuariidaen bird.

Cave Dwellers
*Phoaldilt - A large, fast, dark brown scorpion creature with a legspan of around 2 feet (0.65 meters), its trail curves under its body instead of above it, to allow it to sting shelled prey. The Phoaldilt had only one cyclopean eye.
*Etelmit - Three feet (one meter) long from head to tail, the Etelmit was a eurypterid that inhabited flooded cave systems.

Economy
Amicalis' economy was largely based on agriculture, mining, and maritime pursuits.

The Lerrnahank Countship took advantage of copper, iron, gold, and stone mining, as do the Southern Peaks Countship and Gricsyn to lesser extents, though Gricsyn also mines up Zezaridium. The advent of steam shovel excavation machines and later combustion engine-powered excavation machines improved efficiency and economic output from these regions when they came into popularity.

The Phaber Countship and Amacata Countship both primarily exported agricultural goods, though very different ones. While the Phaber Countship was home to large cotton plantations, maize farms, and bovine ranches, the Amacata Countship instead relied on nut orchards and Agavaceae farms. The Bezard Countship provided lumber to the other regions from its numerous coniferous forests.

The Oceanhead Countship, Southern Peaks Countship, Gricsyn, and Capital Countship all took advantage of the Nautilus Ocean's natural resources to varying degrees. The Capital and Oceanhead Countship both housed large fishing industries, while the Oceanhead Countship also brought in bounties of shellfish. The Southern Peaks Countship had a smaller fishing industry, but occasional whaling expeditions were advantageous; Gricsyn's island territories provided an excellent opportunity to merchants, who often sold their wares to traveling sailors who passed between the islands and the mainland, as the archipelago acted as a buffer against seasonal storms.

The island of Atonicka had little economy up until the Diesel Age, when planes and off-road automobiles allowed explorers to navigate its deadly jungles, and its bounties of gemstones and petroleum were discovered.

Military
Grand Amicalis Army
The Grand Amicalis Army provided the ground troops of Amicalis' military, and it became one of the first armies in the world to rely primarily on gunpowder troops after they replaced its reliance on spearmen in the early to med renaissance. As muskets became prominent, plate armor fell out of favor, and Amicalis musketeers instead adopted distinctive orange greatcoats and later military tunics, leather boots, and a brimmed hat which had one side pinned up to allow them to carry their musket over their shoulder; When the rifle replaced the musket during the Diesel Age, several army divisions adopted a consistent tan color for their uniforms to blend in to their surroundings in desert, savanna, and mountain areas, but as this color was already popular among civilians, the uniform received some white stripes along the sides, and a white hat band to distinguish it as military regimentals.

The army once used Donkeys, Mules, Camels, and Vesonts as beasts of war, but diesel technology replaced their usefulness following the Khyorganese Renaissance. Ballistae, catapults, and trebuchets were dominant siege weapons prior to the renaissance, but canons later challenged their dominance, and by the steam age has procured a monopoly on siege warfare.
Amicalic Navy
The Amicalic Navy, thanks to technological advantage, was one of the most powerful navies in existence from the renaissance onwards. Amicalis was one of the first nations to harness the power of steam to propel warships, creating formidable casemate ironclads even before the official beginning of the Steam Age.

Like the rest of the military, and the nation in general, the Amicalic Navy largely lacked magicians and wizards; Ekati users could help ships navigate through storms, create protective barriers, and even launch attacks against opponent's ships and crew using their supernatural crafts, so their absence put Amicalis at a disadvantage. Amicalis equipped many of its ships with large ballistae, fashioned to the ship's bow (a style already in use by civilian whalers) and armed with bolts tipped with Parean Ekati, a form of Ekati that absorbs magic it comes into contact with.

Unlike the soldiers of the Grand Amicalis Army, the sailors of the Amicalic Navy had no need for camouflage, and continued to sport bright orange uniforms long after the army had adopted tan uniforms that allowed them to blend in to sandy and dusty terrain. Sailors would often be equipped with swords in addition to a pistol or musket in case of boarding well into the Steam Age, as guns took too long to reload and the close-quarters of a ship's deck left reloading troops vulnerable to hand-to-hand attack.

Ships
(note that broadside cannons count the number on each side, not the total number of side-mounted cannons)
Steam-powered:
*Powerhouse-class Casemate Ironclad (5 broadside cannons, 2 fore cannons, 2 aft cannons 6" wrought iron armor)
*Campaign-class paddle steamer (4 broadside cannons, 1 fore cannon, 1 aft cannon, 3" wrought iron armor)
Steam/Sail Combination:
*Aurniznia-class fully-rigged ship/sidewheel steamer (17 broadside cannons)
Sail-powered:
*Pinnacle-class Ship of the line (90 broadside cannons)
*Lantern-class Man-of-war (68 broadside cannons)
*Castellum-class Brig of war (32 broadside cannons)
*Headhunter-class Brig (18 broadside guns)
*Mountaineer-class Bermuda-rigged sloop (8 broadside cannons)

Amicalis Balloon Force
The Amicalis Balloon Force specialized in the use of aerostats, including hot air balloons and airships, and was only founded fairly recently during the Demon Wars. The Balloon Force's main purpose was initially to provide reconnaissance, but the Balloon Force's paratroops could much more easily cross over the mountainous terrain than the army soldiers.

Leir (also known as the Leir Desert) is both the largest desert and the largest region in Eidyn. It is bordered by the regions of Outerlands, Sky Pass, Vedfolnir, Jotun, Central Eidyn and the Verdant Wilderness.

Geography
Much of Leir consists of sand desert, while the region is bordered by mountain ranges. Ancient ruins dot much of the landscape, the remains of both the Leir Empire and the ancient civilizations that proceeded it.

Points of interest
Gammel
Gammel

Gammel is an ancient civilization known for its studies in astromancy. It is located somewhere within the Sands of the Dead. It was destroyed during the Demon Wars.

Mt. Nerthus
A dormant volcano with no snow or vegetation at its peak, Mt. Nerthus is the tallest mountain in the Leir region. It contains the Worldstone at its summit. The Leir Imperial City was carved alongside the mountain using the Worldstone.

Sands of the Dead
Found in southwestern Eidyn, the Sands of the Dead is an ancient area dating back to the beginning of Eidyn. The spirits of those who died during the drying of Leir's oceans reside here. These will often appear during a sandstorm. The Sands of the Dead area is directly west of the Great Boneyard.

Coral Forest
The Coral Forest consists of the remains of a former reef that was once the bottom of an ocean. Coral formations and the shells of deep sea creatures dot the landscape in this region. The Coral Forest consists mostly of western Leir.

Great Boneyard
The Great Boneyard occupies southeastern lair. Known as a treasure trove of ancient fossils, giant rib cages and skulls dot the landscape in this region as the sandstorms and dust preserve them as part of the geography. These are the remains of extinct animals, larger than anything that is still alive today. A Leviathan skeleton is one of the most prominent land features.

The Great Boneyard comprises of two major biomes. The plains consist of wide open areas that giant animals inhabit. The graveyard consists of large clusters of bones which smaller animals can hide within.

Ecosystem
Most of the life in Leir migrated from other regions. The wildlife in Leir is not known for being hostile, although the more aggressive creatures will attack if their territory is violated.
Northern Leir
Northern Leir is a calm location home to small fauna.
*Scorpion - A common scorpion. It preys on the young of Dubious shrews.
*Camel - Camels are used as beasts of burden.
*Leirian pronghorn - Leirian pronghorns are twice the size of normal pronghorns. They are often hunted as game.
*Dubious shrew - A rodent known to invade people's houses to steal their valuables. Gold and silver has been found in their burrows.
*Vigilante eagle - A large bird of prey that often hunts Dubious shrews. It is said that upon capturing and devouring a Dubious shrew, they return any stolen goods to their owners.
*Desert ram - The Leirian equivalent to cows, Desert rams are sheep-like creatures with large horns. They are bred for their numerous natural products including leather, wool, milk and meat. While females are peaceful, males are highly aggressive and dangerous.
*Leirian monitor lizard - A giant lizard that is highly territorial. They have a venomous bite, and they can hunt in packs.
*Sandstorm Dragon - Medium-sized dragons comparable in size to the Windseeker Dragons of Windseeker Eyrie. They have earth-colored scales and tend to be robust and naturally armored. They are highly intelligent and can be domesticated.
Wild Dunes
A rather wild, untamed location home to larger animals. They are descended from sea creatures that adapted to living in dry conditions after Leir turned from an ocean into a desert.
*Duneskipper - A large fish-like creature similar to mudskipper though it dwells in the desert, making its home by burying itself in the sand. Some Atl nomads use them as cart-pulling mounts. They are considered particularly dangerous as full grown Duneskippers can swallow a Notios whole.
**Divine Duneskipper - A relative of the Godfish, it is a species on the verge of extinction. Ever since the end of the Demon Wars, only one individual has ever been sighted. Given their omnivorous diet and their ability to swallow entire ships, there hasn't been a strong incentive to preserve them except for scientific curiousity. When the Divine Duneskipper approaches, it is said to cause landslides and earthquakes. Given their slow digestion process, anyone caught inside of it can survive for weeks and even months by scavenging other materials that the Divine Duneskipper may have swallowed.
*Sand Kraken - Besides the Divine Duneskipper, the Sand Kraken is the largest predator in Leir, the Sand Kraken is a cephalopod that ambushes its prey. It often feeds on Duneskippers and they are known to attack sandships. A well-prepared and experienced crew, however, can take one down.
*Sandworm - Large annelids that begin its larval state as a gaping maw in a pit it dug out to entrap any prey that happens to wander into it. When it matures, it becomes more mobile.
*Leirian Rock Dragon - An apex predator of the salt flats. It roosts on boulders and cliffs, using the terrain as camouflage before moving in to strike. Its primary prey are sandworms which it can lure out by enticing it by creating vibrations with its tail. Duneskippers and Sand Kraken will often go after their young.
Great Boneyard - Plains
*Leirian Scorpion - A large scorpion that stands six meters tall. It is very swift on land, and it is often used as large mounts by nomadic tribes and travelers.
*Behemoth scorpion - A 20 meter tall subspecies of the Leirian Scorpion, it remains underground for most of its life and is capable of living for 1000 years. If someone treads in its territory, it will emit a large shriek as a warning. Should one continue to violate its territory, it will emerge from the ground and attack its opponent. Some Behemoth scorpions have been domesticated by the [[Leir Empire] and used as weapons.
*Tyrannosaurus rex - The Tyrannosaurus rex is a close relative to the dragon. They are dangerous opponents if provoked as they are capable of casting elemental magic. According to legend, it is said that the T-rex was created when a wizard attempted to create giant chickens as a means of overcoming a food shortage. The experiment went horribly wrong.
*Xenoceratops - An herbivorous dragon-like creature with three horns. As a means of defense from predators, it is capable of casting illusion magic to create shadow clones of itself. It can charge with a great enough force to push over thin mesas.
*Stone tortoise - An herbivorous creature that can camouflage itself as a rock. The larger variations can look like hills. The Stone tortoise is common prey to the Behemoth scorpion though witnessing a fight between the two creatures is exceptionally rare.
Great Boneyard - Graveyard
*Skullrex - An undead T-rex animated by dark magic. It feeds off animals for their life force. After feeding enough, a Skullrex will transform into a living T-rex.
*Bone turtle - An herbivorous, skeletal creature that varies in size. It is prey to the Skullrex.
*Monklion - Monklions are small creatures that hide within the skeletons feeding on small insects. They have four limbs and a tale akin to a monkey, but the face of a lion. They are a common pet for warding off pests.
*Hyaenodon - Hyaenodons are predators that commonly target Monklions. They are an apex predator, even preying on Skullrexes.
Sands of the Dead
*Spectral wolf - Descendants of living wolves that were alive during more than 3,000 years ago, spectral wolves consist solely of the wild spirit of the ancient canines.
*Ghost pronghorn - A ghostly herbivore that feeds on microscopic ekati residue.
Coral Forest
*Desert barnacle - Barnacles that often grow on ekati and feed off the magical radiation. In the presence of more magic, they multiply faster.
*Ekati clam - Ekati clams range in many sizes. Over the course of many years, they accumulate ekati residue from the magical resonance of the creatures of the area, eventually forming a pearl of ekati. Ekati clams are farmed and hunted by both nomadic tribes and the Leir Empire.
*Graverobber crab - Graverobber crabs hide within the giant shells of former deep sea arthropods.
Salt flats
*Saltstrider - A lizard that can run at high speeds bipedally. When it dashes across the salt plains, it leaves a trail of red smoke.
Subterranean
*Rock Snail - A giant gastropod that forms its shells out of the minerals it ingests. It normally lays eggs within ore veins which it is highly protective of. It can harden its shell to become essentially impervious to most damage, but its shell is vulnerable at certain points. Because of how aggressive Rock Snails are, anyone who mines the ores in Leir's underground are recommended to be accompanied by guards.
*Cave Dragon - An underground species of dragon that uses its wings to fly across the Wind Caves although they are known to roost within caves closer to the surface. Their primary prey consists of giant megafauna from Subterra. While they are normally unaggressive towards mortals, they will attack if they feel threatened.
*Golem
*Heilinthar

Native factions
*Leir Empire - Once a superpower during the late Renaissance era, they saw a collapse when they gathered all the Aard'Vorn at Mt. Nerthus in an attempt to harness its power.

Central Eidyn is a region of Eidyn. It is bordered by Sky Pass, Verdant Wilderness, Leir, Varden and Oceanfell. A lush region surrounded by mountains, the land is one of the most fertile areas of Eidyn due to the Inner Sea. The region is filled to the brim with wildlife and as a result hunters frequently hunt there. It is also a prime place for settlements.

Geography
The most notable feature of the region is the great Inner Sea, the biggest lake in the whole plane (and possibly all of Erudite). The massive body of water holds dozens of tiny islands, and many of those islands are inhabited by nomads or shipwrecked people. Around the sea is the fields and woodlands, often filled to the brim with both prey and predators. Surrounding the region are high mountains that often restrict entry other than by water.
Inner Sea
The Inner Sea is the largest lake in Eidyn. It is renowned for brimming with natural resources. From veins of minerals in the cliffs and the fertile soil at its shores, the lake is a land ripe for civilization. Small islands are scattered in the lake, rarely populated by tribes, outcasts, and shipwrecked peoples. The lake is also purported to have a great monster in its depths, though it hasn't been proven yet.
It is largely uninhabited, and much of the land was formed as a result of earth shaping by the Kingdom of Leir.

Geography
The Verdant Wilderness consists mostly of grasslands with pocket forests. It is considered a wild region. Along the southern border are the Ling Mountains.
Points of interest
Limestone Plains
The Limestone Plains are the remains of the Phantom Seas, a former ocean that was destroyed by the Kingdom of Leir using the Worldstone - essentially as a means of crippling the Xeng Empire's naval power in one fell swoop. What remains of the former ocean is the Phantom Lake.

Scattered across the Limestone Plains are shipwrecks, formerly Xengese junks that were put out of commission when the ocean was dried up.
Phantom Lake
Formerly the Phantom Seas, the Phantom Lake is a body of water known for containing a lot of spirit energy. The lake is still very large despite having shrunk in size. To this day, a strange mist envelops the lake, and ghostly ships have been spotted.
*Deer - A deer is a common game animal found in all regions.
Phantom Lake
Most of the wildlife in the Phantom Lake have since become endangered after the drying of the Phantom Seas.
*Shadow shark - Shadow sharks are spectral, carnivorous beings that feed on spirit energy.
A region with strange foliage and even stranger ground formations, Varden has often been described as a twisted, alien land of untold mystery.

Geography
The region mostly consists of thick jungle and strange stone formations that occasionally break the treeline. The jungle is filled with small ruins made by some unknown civilization, though it is thought they were left behind by the Moroitos. The only other remarkable feature of the region is the large lake that the Union of Climche and Folium are located. This lake and all the land near it are infested with huge, carnivorous plants. What is worse is that these plants are spreading, and soon they will probably cover the whole region.

The northern border of Varden is the Tepezi Desert formed by a rainshadow of several nearby mountains. It is the driest area of Varden. It is here where a tribe of Atl known as the Ko'atl live.

Biodiversity
*Tendril Serpent - A Tendril Serpent is a water snake about ten feet long. What makes this snake unique from others it that eight tentacles come out of its back. Though they stay inactive while the beast is on land, in the water they can choke someone as easily as the snake itself. Fortunately, Tendril Serpents are largely uncommon.
*Hydra - An evolutionary offshoot of the drake, a hydra is a large reptilian quadruped with around five heads. Though ungainly on land, it can swim gracefully in water thanks to its large, broad feet. Unlike legend would have it, a hydra's head does not grow back immediately once it is cut off. Rather, it takes around a year for a new head to grow in its place.
*Pantano Wolf - A wolf that lives in the wetlands of the peninsula. This wolf has a dark-gold and brown coat to blend in with its surroundings, and unlike most wolves, Pantanos sometimes hunt with other packs of wolves, sharing the kill afterwards. They are often considered a sign of unity and cooperation.
*Vouno Lion - A large lion that lives in the Catalonin Mountains, the Vouno Lion is a fierce predator that hunts the mountains for Beorthin. A Vouno Lion is well known for its pride, and many people have saved themselves from Vouno attacks by splashing mud on them. They immediately try to clean their coat, which lets their prey escape. Vouno Lions are often thought of as signs of pride and power.
*Aguaeto - A large predatory bird that is present all over East Teleios. It hunts smaller birds and also prey on the ground and in the sea. In the winter the Aguaeto turns a bright silver and black, while in the summer it turns cobalt and white. An Aguaeto is also incredibly supportive and protective of its family. The family may stay together up to three years while the chick grows. Because of this, the Aguaeto is a sign of the people and prosperity.
*Beorthin - A large goat-like creature native to the tip of the peninsula. The Beorthin is known for its large and extravagant horns and plump coat of fur. However, Beorthin herders are often seriously injured when trying to cut the hair of one, as they are extremely picky about how someone cuts the hair and who even gets close to them.
*Hollowskull - A dog-like quadruped, this animal gets its name from the bony protrusions on its head, giving it the impression that it is wearing a hollow skull. Native to the Nippona Heartlands and the Nipponan Coast, these beasts generally hunt in packs of three. They have excellent night-vision, though in the day their sight is not as good. Hollowskulls generally avoid mortal settlements, except when there has been absolutely no other prey available for some time, in which case they try to snatch children for an easy meal.
*Rock Fiend - A worm-like creature that lays on rocky beds or sticks onto stony cliffs to blend into their environment with their dark coloring and rock-like spines on their back. When prey comes close, they snatch it with their tongues, and pull it into their maws filled with saw-like teeth. Fortunately, they are scared of fire and will not attack anything either with fire or near it. They even hesitate if their victim smells like they are burnt, though they will attack once they realize the victim isn't on fire.
Fast-flowing rivers run though the southern portion of the region among the forests, attracting numerous animals to the forests. Though the north is more sparsely vegetated, animals still abound there during the spring due to delicious weeds that sprout and cover the hills.

Points of interest
Eyes of Behemoth
Two lakes in the southwest of the region, the Eyes of Behemoth are known for their spectacular views as well as plentiful hunting grounds. Herds of animals often pass through the lakes during migration, and as a result both hunters and predators flock there cyclically to get the best meat. The Eyes of Behemoth are also known as the home of the elusive Jabuu, a rumored prehistoric beast that has lived in the lakes since time immeasurable.
The region, though full of plentiful resources and riches, does not give up its resources easily.

Geography
Jotun is an ice tundra that spills out of the northern mountains and continues on until the Fields of the Sun, where the ground begins to warm until it reaches the scorching hot conditions found in Leir. In the northern reaches of Jotun the land is nearly uninhabitable due to constant snow, subzero temperatures, and just about every creature is trying to kill another for food or self-defense. This is why settlements in Jotun always stay relatively close to the mountains, as they offer sanctuary from the cold and the predators.

Points of interest
Fields of the Sun
A large set of rolling plains, the Fields of the Sun are the intermediate zones between Jotun and Leir. Though ideal living conditions, the land itself is almost worthless due to the fact that the soil is horrible for growing crops. The only reason settlements have been there at all is due to small, loose veins of precious minerals that have been found to be scattered around the fields.
The name Gierkliff comes from a society of ancient Wood Elves that once colonized the region in an attempt to create a clone of the Great Tree of Bossniri.

During the Medieval Era, much of Gierkliff was infested with a miasma produced by a demon known as the Kudzu. This miasma would mind control anyone exposed to it, but children were not affected. *Drake: A quadrupedal reptile commonly mistaken for a baby dragon of some kind. Though the drake and the dragon do have similarities in terms of appearance, a drake is actually closer to a dog in terms of genetics. Hundreds of different subspecies of drake exist in Eidyn.

*Fey: A creature made up entirely of magic energy and a ekati core, it has multiple forms. Fey are made when large acts of magic become uncontrollable and bound to the ekati that forms from the magic. Though having a rudimentary intelligence comparable to a small animal, fey have been known to gather in dysfunctional packs.

*Asphinx: A snake commonly found deep underground but rarely found on or near the surface where there are granite deposits, where they feed on the granite. If they are approached by any being besides their own kind they will attempt to bite, in which they inject a poison that turns whatever the poison touches to solid stone. Immediate amputation has to be done before the poison spreads to the whole body.

*Quakeworm: A cousin to the Asphinx, this serpent devours through rock like it was paper. Though not poisonous, Quakeworms have been known to cause cave-ins and rock slides when they feel threatened.

*Roc: A massive eagle-like bird, the roc is a rare but dangerous sight. Making their huge nests in the valleys between mountain peaks, these gigantic birds fly for many miles hunting for large game like mammoths and hydras. If no large meals are available, they will steal hordes of livestock instead. Rocs are very territorial and will fight with other rocs or any other creature that they perceive to be a threat to their territory.

From the land adjacent to it, it slopes upward into a mountain range, then becomes a large plateau. At the coast is a steep cliff next to a flat, frozen plain. Throughout this plateau are dotted rocky outcroppings and mountains. Although the snow does not melt during the summer months, plants and other trees can thrive here. The flora here appears crystalline, blue and icy.

Shuang is an ice desert with very little snowfall, yet the locals manage to thrive here. In Shuang is a vast civilization known as the Xeng Empire, inhabited by frost elves. However, before the ancient elf Chun used the Flame Sigil to bring life to the land, Shuang was completely inhospitable.

A great ocean used to exist north of Shuang. When the Kingdom of Leir invaded, they dried it up using an Aard'Vorn, creating the Limestone Plains. This was to cut off supply lines via ships.
History
Fearing that the Flame Sigil could be misused, its discoverer Chun only used it to bring life to Shuang. He then hid it away in the Ice Temple.

The golden age of the Frost Elves soon followed. Machines grew predominant and cities became industrialized, largely relying on steampower and magitek to accomplish.
Points of Interest
Temple of Hozai
Temple of Hozai

The Temple of Hozai is an ancient temple older than the Xeng Empire, originally built by the elf Chun. The Flame Sigil, located deep inside, is believed to keep the Shuang region from completely freezing over. Should the Flame Sigil be removed from the temple, the land of Shuang would be doomed to turn into a wasteland. The temple is found at the summit of Mt. Shen Wu.
Imperial Lands
The Imperial Lands are the regions controlled by the Xeng Empire. These are easily noticeable by the roads and fortified cities. The most powerful city-state is Yang Bao, the supposedly impenetrable city.
Nomad Wilds
The wilderness areas of Shuang. Most of the larger creatures inhabit this area, and it is therefore more dangerous. It connects directly to the edge of the world, where the terrain becomes highly exotic and irregular.

Geographic features
The "islands" have since become mountains and mesas ever since the Phantom Seas were dried up.
Ling Mountains
A chain of mountains that surrounds the Xeng Empire. Their rugged terrain makes it difficult to traverse, and the most practical access point is the city of Dailu. The eastern half of the Ling Mountains split into two ranges - the North Ling Mountains and the South Ling Mountains.
Mt. Shen Wu
One of the highest peaks in Eidyn, the tallest of the Ling Mountains. The Shuang Nomads have a tradition of climbing the mountain as a rite of passage to adulthood, but the Xeng Empire has a presence there, because they are wary that the Flame Sigil could be stolen.
Lake Hu
Lake Hu is a large unfrozen, freshwater lake near the northeastern corner of Shuang near the cliffside coasts. It is the most readily available water and food source in the entire region. The capital of the Xeng Empire, Yang Bao, is found surrounding the coastlines of the lake. In the middle of the lake is Quan Island, a small isle connected to the mainland via a drawbridge where the Imperial Palace is located.
Jiao Island
Jiao Island

An island just off the northern coast of Shuang. On this island are odd creatures known as Hsigo, which are flying snow monkeys with human faces.
Noraur Isle
A large island off the coast of northeastern Shuang. Below lies the vast city of Ghadi only reachable via sea. Noraur has cliffside coasts and a patch of greenery on the top.

Sen Forest
Sen Forest

A green area to the far east in the Xeng Empire. It has become the main source of lumber for the Xeng Empire. While the Xengese prefer to use stone and metals in their architecture, wood was discovered to be usable in the construction of ships. As a result, outside of Shui are large tree farms - the wood there was used to construct the boats part of the Xeng navy.
Crucible Mountain
Crucible Mountain

Crucible Mountain is an active volcano in the region of Shuang. Legend holds that in the age of the Shattering, a rare Colossus Demon emerged from the earth. Thus, the surrounding area was scorched with volcanic rock and dead trees, a sharp contrast to the ice desert Shuang already is. As the area has actively flowing lava, it is dangerous to approach, but the increase in volcanic activity has created pleasantly temperate areas, allowing for the construction of city-states such as Froststream.
River Da-Chuan
The River Da-Chuan is a major trade route for the Xeng Empire. It begins as meltwater originating from Crucible Mountain which empties out into a basin which Froststream is built around. Then, for 2,000 miles it flows throughout central Shuang until eventually emptying out into Lake Hu. From there, the river continues until eventually flowing off of Shuang's cliffside coasts as a great waterfall. The riverbed itself is also rich with hephaestus and keeps the river unfrozen at almost all times, as a small lava vent flows under most of the river which gives the hephaestus its high and constant temperatures.
Lianjie Glacier
Lianjie Glacier was one of the major landmasses used in draining the Phantom Seas. It connected mainland Shuang to what were once islands.
Ecosystem
Ice desert
*Spirit Dragon - A benevolent species of dragon capable of speech. They are ethereal creatures often summoned by Xeng Shamen. They live in the mountains and serve as guardians and protectors. They intensely distrust the dragon-men, however.
*Mammoth - A large pachioderm covered in fur. Mammoths herds are hunted both by nomads and the Xeng Empire.
*Bashe - A gigantic, burrowing serpent that preys on mammoths
*Yeti - Yetis are large ape-like creatures that exhibit profound intelligence. The leader of the yetis is known as Yeren, who prefers to keep to itself.
*White Tiger - A tiger that brings snowfall to wherever it dashes.
*Nine Phoenix - A giant ice-phoenix with nine heads. It is a hostile creature.
*Snow bear - A large, aggressive carnivore.
*Ice spirits - These are ethereal creatures that inhabit the land of Shuang. They are worshipped by the Xengese Frost Elves.
*Hsigo - Flying monkeys found on Jiao Island.
*Xiangliu - A large nine-headed dragon beast that once inhabited Shuang. It was slain by an ancient warrior, but it is rumored to still be alive.
*Slothra - A mole-sloth creature with two large arms and great claws. They live at the base of Crucible Mountain.
River life
*Geyser Beetle - A large insect with a tough carapace that lives around the River Da-Chuan. It lays eggs inside a geyser. When it erupts, the eggs spread out like spores and populate the area.
*Scalderfish - As the geysers scald this fish constantly, when caught, it tastes like it is cooked.
*Chuan Crane - A crane that hunts Geyser Beetles. Their feathers are heat proof and so are their eggs. Chuan Cranes are often hunted for their feathers to create boats, and their eggs for both the shells for boats and little Chuan Cranes for farming feathers.
A land of few beings, wild creatures, and strange powers, the Outerlands are not to be taken lightly by anyone who attempts to traverse it.

Geography
The Outerlands are generally made up of dry plains and miles and miles of tough, thick grass. To the northeast the landscape generally becomes lusher the closer one gets to the mountains. Eventually this leads to beautiful pine forests that herbivores often find shelter in, as the pines are too prickly for most predators to go through. There is also a lack of fresh running water anywhere in the region besides the pine forests. There is also a mountain pass in the Outerlands that leads to the northern faces of the mountains in the Jotun and North Eidyn regions, but the pass is extremely dangerous due to treacherous terrain and dangerous predators of the cold.
Pan's Garden
Pan's Garden is a paradise in the otherwise dry plains of the Outerlands. Purportedly created by a god-like imp named Pan, it was apparently formed to be a sort of natural preserve in the otherwise arid plains. Though the origins of the Garden's creation is heavily disputed, it is agreed that the area was supposed to be some sort of preserve. Adventurers have found that creatures not native to Eidyn live in the Garden, along with powerful and nameless stone guardians that attack intruders.
A wild area of arctic extremes in the Outerlands, the Pass of the Crevasse is a narrow and dangerous crevasse through the glacier that sits in the mountain valley that goes through the whole glacier. The Pass is infamous for dead ends and dangerous fauna, including reports of a mad spirit that takes the souls of travelers during blizzards. The Pass of the Crevasse has only been successfully crossed once, when a man once traveled through the pass in order to return home to his family in Jotun.

Galewind Tunnels
A section of the Wind Caves that passes underneath the border between the Leir Empire and the Heilinthar Empire. While it used to be a trade route in the past, the war between the two nations has turned it into no-man's land. With some particularly hostile beasts being disturbed, the pathway is now considered too dangerous for any sort of civilian travel. The Arbiter known as General Gadreel has been seen patrolling this area.

The tower itself is very well-guarded, patrolled by legions of simulacra.

Maj: Eidyn template seems to be redundant with Valordyn template, which is better laid out and has more links

The Cognill Islands were an island chain found off the eastern coast of Eidyn, in the Leviathan Areas. They lay far to the east offshore from Oceanfell, Varden, and Gierkliff, with the closest land being Windseeker Eyrie.

The Cognill Islands were a barrier against the huge waves and currents that ran uninterrupted from the distant Nautilus Ocean, dispersing them before they reached land on mainland Eidyn. As a result, the
Cognill Islands were battered by the seas.

Geography
The Cognill Islands numbered in the dozens, and the archipelago ran from north to south. The southernmost island lay at the same latitude as Shuang, and the northermost along the latitude of Gierkliff. The islands themselves were rocky and barren, especially on their east faces, which served as breakwaters against enormous waves. These waves were caused by the large oceanic gyre that existed between Eidyn's eastern shore and Khyorgan's western continents, between which there were few if any landforms to wear down the waves. As a result, the waves that slammed into the Cognill Islands were known for their brutality.

While the eastern shores were assaulted by the waves regularly, the western shores of the islands were somewhat spared, and a few calm beaches could be found here. Some seabirds and tide pool-dwelling life can be found making their home in these slightly sheltered spots.

It was theorized by Eidynese scholars that the islands may be a remnant of a much larger landform that was slowly destroyed by the waves, but this speculation is not supported by substantiative evidence.

History
Due to the region's fearsome conditions, the Cognill Islands were rarely home to permanent settlements. Some remote outposts were established here by Human and Orcish whalers and fisherman from Eidynese countries such as the Kronen Empire.

Creatures
*Starry Frigatebird - A type of frigatebird. Males have a deep black coloration with white tips on their feathers, giving them an appearance reminiscent of a starry nighttime sky, for which they are named.
*Stilt Crab - A type of crab with long, thin legs and a small body.
*Glossy Star - A starfish that has an iridescent coloration.

Maj: Removed references to a cold equator as that is far to the south of Khyorgan now

The Amacata Desert was a vast, expansive desert to the north of the Gibral Peninsula. It made up a large portion of the continent of Obreidhion.

Geography
Formed from the rain shadow of a large mountain range along the eastern coast, the Amacata Desert was a dry region with pocket oases. The northernmost and southernmost areas were suitable for life, but separating the two areas was a barren, uninhabitable region at the Equator.
Regions
Northern Plains
The Northern Plains were a flat area that gradually transitioned into a more temperate environment.

At the dawn of the Polvoran Industrial Revolution, a railroad was constructed to link the north and south. Each train had mages casting heat and cold spells to maintain the temperature.
Southern Highlands
The Southern Highlands consisted of rugged terrain including steep cliffs, mesas and canyons.
Western Savanna
The Western Savanna was a dry region in the western portion of the desert. It had significantly more flora and grass growth but is still extremely dry. Dense pocket jungles dotted the area.

The Western Savanna was home to megafauna, creatures far larger than anywhere else in the desert. This is likely attributed to the greater abundance of food in the region, thus allowing larger animals to thrive.
Eastern Range
The Eastern Range was a large mountain range along the eastern coast. These mountains were responsible for the massive rain shadow across this region.
Ecosystem
Flora
*Kaktos - A spiny, ruby-colored plant
*Saguaro - A large, green cactus
*Karnoflore - A giant, carnivorous flower.

Fauna
*Dust Devil - Dust Devils were mischievous, ethereal creatures that stir up dust storms.
*Gunturosaur - A stone herbivore that primarily eats rocks. A lightning rod on its back absorbs static electricity, keeping it almost constantly active.
*Terrafist - A stone creature with large powerful fists designed to break off the outer shell of its armored prey.
*Wild Jawi - Native to the Southern Highlands, Jawi were horse-antelope creatures with two horns and a set of stripes at their posterior end. They were domesticated by the Picos Barbarians, and later acquired by the Polvora Empire.
*Buffalox - A common ranch animal known for its hide and meat.
*Oxtaur - A subspecies of Buffalox. Oxtaur have larger horns and are far more aggressive.
*Creodont - A carnivorous, pack-hunting mammal that preyed on Buffalox. They were considered pests by ranchers, but some of the native tribes used them as hunting pets.
*Jackalope - A Jackalope was a rabbit-like creature with antlers.
*Spearwinder - A species of snake with a large proboscis instead of a mouth. It jabbed itself into its prey, draining it of fluids.
*Scurida - A squirrel with two tails. The creature's blood was highly venomous, making it resistant to Spearwinder attacks.
*Alleghor - A close relative of the Werewyrm, the Alleghor was a serpentine predator found in the Western Savanna and historically across much of Khyorgan's deserts. The Alleghor tunneled into the ground, sprayed poison at its prey, and could also fatally electrocute animals.
*Amacatan Swiftrunner - A variety of Swiftrunner adapted for the harsh and unforgiving Amacatan Desert. Very uncommon in the wild by the time of the Khyorganese Renaissance, as most had been tamed by the Picos and later the Taulans.

Cities
Tangmal City
Tangmal City was located in the western regions of the South Highlands. Built at the edge of a cliff, it was the last stronghold for the Kingdom of Taurya before they perished in the Demon Wars. However, Tangmal City would survive and be rebuilt to become one of the largest cities in the Amacata region.

The Bonetowers
This area was a collection of Picos settlements made of bones, the only readily available resource in the desert. Most of them were abandoned after a war with Polvora, and they later became inhabited by an alliance of Elven tribes.

Kenkana City
Kenkana City was a Taulan city hidden atop a high mesa in the Southern Highlands. According to rumor, the city was built over a fault line where life energy from the planet bubbles up to the surface in the form of a hot spring. Bathing in these springs was said to be incredibly relaxing, granting healing powers that soothe even the worst of injuries.

Nutakaville
Nutakaville was a Polvoran boomtown settlement founded during the Polvoran Industrial Revolution. It was located near the border of the Equator and the Southern Highlands. This was the southern end point for the Trans-Equator railroad.

Hanturoh Town
Located deep within the Equator, Hanturoh Town was a ghost town that was founded during the construction of the Trans-Equator railroad. After being abandoned, it was still inhabited by the spirits of those that perished during its rigorous construction.

Alkazar City
Alkazar City

An industrial metropolis built by Polvoran settlers. Originally a mining settlement built above a large deposit of mithril, the city was located in the Southern Highlands. It went on to become a vibrant location, inviting tourists from all over Obreidhion.

The inner sector of the city was surrounded by large fortifications with anti-airship guns installed atop to ward off enemy invaders.

White Flag
This Tauryan settlement marked the site of a major battle with the allied Polvoran and Tauryans against an army of Demons. The battle was a major strategic victory, and soon only fourteen Demons remained. The fortress which they were holding flew a white flag, which ended two months of occupying the mineral-rich Red Hills. White Flag went on to become a booming mining colony and major historical site.

Waktu
An ancient city that was founded by the Aetherian Pasir who guided a single family into building a civilization near the River Elin. In the past, it was a sprawling hub of trade and wealth. However, Pasir himself outlasted Waktu which succumbed to war and decay over thousands of years, yet even into the Khyorganese Renaissance, Pasir remained in the ruins of a temple built in his honor.

Landforms
Kematian Valley
Found in the Northern Plains, Kematian Valley was a low-lying area deeper than sea level. Magma seeps out onto the surface making the area even hotter than the rest of the surrounding area. The valley was a dry area home to an ecosystem of stone creatures.
Ayud Crater
According to legend, Ayud Crater is the location where a legendary Ayud Armonia crashed down to the earth to take the form of a human - the very start of the religion known as the Covenant of the Patriarch Spirit. The crater was considered by many to be sacred ground, and only those who are completely pure were allowed to tread in it.

Battle Plains
The Battle Plains were the vast area surrounding the Ayud Crater. Named for the numerous conflict that took place here, the Battle Plains were a large, flat, dry savanna mostly devoid of fauna. To Polvora, the Battle Plains were considered a highly sacred region part of the Holy Land.

River Elin
The River Elin was a large river that flows from west to east.

Factions
*Kingdom of Taurya - Taurya was a kingdom that previously controlled several oversees territories in the Amacata Desert region. During the Demon Wars, they lost these holdings.
*Picos Barbarians - The Picos Barbarians were originally a tribe of nomads seeking to raid the more technologically advanced Polvora.
*Taulan Tribe - The Taulan Tribe were a native elf tribe that carves shelters and other living spaces on cliffsides.
*Kingdom of Polvora - The discovery of gold and mithril attracted Polvora to explore the borders of the equatorial regions of the desert, and they set up numerous boomtown settlements.
*Theyrian Empire - Theyrian territory stretches as far down as the northern end of the desert, where they control half a dozen mining colonies.
*Amicalis - The Amacata Countship of Amicalis was located within an area of the northeastern Amacata Desert, there were a number of towns strewn around the scrub brush forests there which survived by trading edible Agave plants and nuts in return for water.
Geodynamics
Erudite is 24,000km in diameter. Although most terrestrial planets of this size would experience immense gravitational effects, Erudite's gravity is only around 9.78 meters per second (99.72g) at its surface. The most prominent reason for this lies with Erudite's core:

Erudite does not have an iron, or otherwise metal inner core as might be expected from a typical terrestrial planet. Instead, Erudite's inner core is made of Ekati, a crystal substance. Consequently, the mass of the planet, and by extension its gravity, is quite a bit less than might otherwise be expected. Normally, a planet's metallic core is crucial to providing a magnetic field around the planet; However Erudite's mantle produces a magnetic field around the planet due to the presence of Magnesium Oxide. When this effect combines together with a special Ekati variant called Thale Ekati found within the planet's core, which also produces a magnetic field effect, these two conditions are able to provide the same protection as would be afforded by a traditional metallic core.

This core is the source of all Ekati found in Erudite, as it seeps, in liquid form, through Erudite's mantle, and solidifies in a crystalline form. In some places, Ekati wells reach the surface, erupting and saturating the area with magic, as is the case in Bhari'Adavi. Erudite also has traditional magma seeps and volcanic conduits as well, which are not particularly closely associated with the flow of liquid Ekati. The internal flow of Ekati is affected heavily by the core, which has a pseudo-magnetic effect which alters the trajectory and pressure of the liquid, causing it to diverge from the routes magma flows take to the surface.

Climate
Erudite has a cold equator and even colder polar regions, with warm bands at the tropics. These warm areas are somewhat offset by oceanic gyres and other environmental mechanics. In Erudite's Northern Hemisphere, the heat band runs through the desert regions of Leir and the Outerlands, and then dips down through Shuang, although the latter is one of the colder areas of Eidyn due to its elevation and the atmospheric effects of volcanic activity of nearby Heznland.

This heat band continues to Khyorgan where it heats Mrigae, the Shai-shan Archipelago, and Desert of Lexighor, then through the Amacata Desert and Atonicka. Although Polvora, Andavronia, and Amicalis are at similar latitudes to these, the natural flow of cool wind and water from elsewhere has a cooling effect.

The north and south poles of Erudite are much colder than the rest of the world, and are home to permanent polar ice caps that remain frozen year-round.

Cosmology
Cosmology
Erudite has two moons, Isha and Kosa, as well as a ring known as Isha's Grace. It is orbited by a small star called Ouros alongside 7 small, uninhabitable planets which each align with an element present on Erudite.
History
In the ancient past, the native races of Khyorgan, the sentinels, abominations, and qilin were among the first mortals to walk on the face of the continent. Thousands of years later, the first immigrant races would arrive to Khyorgan from Valordyn. The two largest groups were the humans and the elves. The humans, such as the Kess and Adonbaxi, were an industrious and diverse people, likely the most numerous, who would settle the many forests and grasslands of Obreidhion and Andavronia. The elves, a race of man with extreme adaptive properties, settled the northern Khios Mountains and Amacata Desert of Obreidhion. Two other races that came alongside them, however, the dwarves and the orcs, instead set their sights on Lexighor.

The dwarves were the first to arrive there, staking out mines in the mountainous region of Archei. At home in mountainous regions, they mined up bounties of gold, Ekati, and other precious materials. Archei was also known for its advanced technology.

The orcs, on the other hand, did not choose this region for being hospitable, but instead because they were beleaguered in other regions by poor relations with other races. Even once in Lexighor, the Archei clans were not particularly welcoming to them, and the orcs found themselves essentially banished into living in the barren Desert of Lexighor, where they would go on to found the United Orcish Tribes of Gorholl.

Later, the Gomchar Empire would collapse, and the Abomination Crusades would eradicate the abomination presence from all of southern Khyorgan. This would hardly bring peace to the immigrant races of Lexighor, however, as the Demon Wars would ravage Erudite. Gorholl was destroyed, later replaced by the much smaller Orcish Alliance of New Gorholl.
The desert of Lexighor made up most of Lexighor's mass. A nearly-inhospitable and dangerous wasteland even in comparison to the Amacata Desert, the abominations once roamed this desert until they returned home to Dhelarushick following the Abomination Crusades of King Matharis IV.

Orcish peoples who migrated to Khyorgan during the Immigration Era were forced into this desert by the races of Man after several decades of conflict between the two.
Archei was a mountain range in the western parts of Lexighor, it is home to the Archei Clans.
Mexighirikth was a mountain range on the southern edge of the Desert of Lexighor.

Yamtherici-Xen'hivith
Yamtherici and Xen'hivith were large landmasses to the south of the desert separated by a channel of water known as Thamkithick. The Enthvent people dwelt in Xen'hivith and revered Yamtherici as a sacred land from which all were forbidden to enter outside of pilgrimages and rituals. Settlers from the Andavronian Empire eventually took over Yamtherici, leading to a history of conflict between the two peoples.

Khyorgan was a major region of Erudite, consisting of several smaller continents and islands. Khyorgan was the second largest region in Erudite in terms of landmass and was home to many people, races, cultures and empires.

History
Prehistory
The original inhabitants of Khyorgan were quite alien to the races of Valordyn. Among them were the mysterious, dragon-like Sentinels, flying, serpentine magical beings who believed it was their duty to guard Khyorgan from threats. From the island continent Mildhurian at the heart of Khyorgan came the Quillens, fearsome, flightless, falcon-like predators. From the caves below Dhelarushick emerged the Abominations, a fierce caste society of beings created by the Primordial Malcide. Magma golems, titanic in size, sprung forth from the volcanoes of Mrigae. Lastly, from the treacherous marshes of Boegaden emerged the Haazrade, a warlike race of strong, primitive swamp-dwellers.

In ancient history, these indigenous races mostly lived in isolation, extremely distant from eachother, and their interactions were rare. For centuries, most of Khyorgan remained wild, untamed, unexplored land where no mortal had ever set foot. Eventually, however, this era would come to an end.

Immigration
From Valorum, the Elves were the first foreign mortals to colonize Khyorgan. These settlers and explorers' elven physiologies allowed them to rapidly adapt to their new homes. They became the Moon Elves of the Ringshadow Isles, the Snow Elves in the Khios Mountains, and the Sand Elves of the Amacata Desert.

The elves were soon followed by the Dwarves, who settled Archei. Orcs came soon after, but disputes with the elves and dwarves lead them to be relegated to the harsh Desert of Lexighor. After this came the Humans, who arrived first in Obreidhion, but spread across much of Khyorgan.

One population of humans, the Kess, first lived near the dwarves of Archei, but soon their population grew beyond what the hills could sustain and they emigrated to the peninsula Ibrin in Andavronia. The Maliekt, a burrowing insect people, and the Byn'makha, a semiaquatic reptilian race, arrived soon after.

These expat races often found themselves unable to mesh well with their indigenous hosts. Bloodshed between the new settlers and the Abominations, Quillen, and Haazrade was frequent. Though the Haazrade only attacked intruders who (knowingly or unknowingly) approached their homelands, Quillen warriors and Abominations would set out to raid distant settlements for their own gain.

Magitek Boom
In an extremely short time period, known as the "Magitek Boom", several powerful empires were built on the back of Magitek. The most well-known of these were the Segaran Technocracy, Aurum Confederacy, Empire of the Red Tower, and Empire of Shai-shan.

These nations, larger and more powerful than any non-native civilization ever before seen on Khyorgan, expanded out rapidly and conquered miles upon miles of land. The Empire of the Red Tower enslaved humans, byn'makha, and maliekt in Obreidhion, conquering the east of the continent up to the Amacata Desert. Even the gargantuan, formidable Golems of Mrigae were brought low by the power of the Magitek Empires, being enslaved by the Shai-shan.

The power of these nations was unstable, however, and late into the Magitek Era, the Segarans vanished. In the resulting power vacuum, a war broke out between the Aurum Confederacy and the Empire of Shai-shan, hurtling Khyorgan into a Dark Age.

The Khyorgan Dark Age
While the Aurum Confederacy and Shai-shan waged war against one another to the west, the Empire of the Red Tower was annihilated by nation-wide slave revolts in the east, and the abominations swept across Khyorgan's north. Much of the vast knowledge the world obtained during the Magitek era was lost during the Dark Age, as war and economic collapse swept every continent. The Dark Age ended all large-scale trade between Khyorgan and the other continents.

Medieval Era
As the Dark Age wound down, new nations sprung up from the carnage. The Kingdom of Taurya and Kingdom of Polvora in Obreidhion, Andavronian Confederacy in Andavronia, and Archei Clans in Lexighor were prominent Medieval Khyorganese civilizations which rose to power following the end of the Magitek empires.

As the Medieval Era nations wrapped up the last of the problems the Dark Age had caused them, they began to expand outwards and forge their own empires. A Tauryan by the name of King Theyri IV created the Theyrian Empire and expelled the native Quillen of the Gomchar Empire from the island of Mildhurian, where they had ruled unchallenged since before humans ever stepped foot in Khyorgan. The Allied Khionic Monasteries, Clan Permulaan, and Karang Batu also emerged during this time.

Demon Wars
Demon Wars

The Demon Wars were a network of conflicts which took place not just in Khyorgan, but also in Eidyn, along with other environments of the world. Abraxas and the Shadow Force lead an army of Demons in a mass assault against the mortal races.

Various Khyorganese and Eidynese civilizations were able to come together and defeat their demonic assailants, but not without a great cost. Entire polities, such as the Kingdom of Taurya and United Orcish Tribes of Gorholl, were snuffed out.

Renaissance Era
The Khyorganese Renaissance was a period of time in which new nations replaced the old ones which had been destroyed by the war; Though new friendships had been established by the war, territory and resources claimed from the Demons became a subject of dispute, and the seeds of conflict came to sprout during this time period. Many nations were wracked with economic problems in the face of the immense cost of the Demon Wars, and some sought to expand their control and obtain new sources of income from foreign lands, such as Polvora's colonization of the South Nautilus Isles.

Geography
Continents
Khyorgan had six regions large enough top be considered continents.
*Andavronia - Andavronia was a a small continent to the far south of mainland Khyorgan, which was originally an island until it collided with Obreidhon.

*Lexighor - Lexighor was situated to the northwest of Andavronia and southwest of the inland Gomchar Sea. It was connected to Obreidhion by a narrow land bridge.

*Obreidhion - Obreidhion was a continent covered mainly in desert and makes up most of the southeast. Obreidhion was home to many of Khyorgan's most powerful nations, such as Amicalis, and the Kingdom of Polvora.

*Dhelarushick - Dhelarushick was the largest continent and made up the northern part of Khyorgan's mainland. It was separated from the southern continents by Gomchar, the inland sea which contained Mildhurian.

*Mrigae - Mrigae was a continent which once formed the heart of the Empire of Shai-shan. Though Shai-shan was long gone by the time of the Demon Wars, the golems they once enslaved remained on the island, presenting a potential for extreme danger to those who managed to breach Mrigae's magical barrier protection and survive its other dangerous inhabitants. Mrigae's hostile conditions made it unsuitable for any modern civilizations by the time of the Khyorganese Renaissance.
Seas and Oceans
*Gomchar Sea - The Gomchar Sea, also known as the Varheid Sea, was a small sea around Mildhurian, which was at the heart of Khyorgan.

*Nautilus Ocean - The Nautilus Ocean was a large ocean which encompasses the majority of Khyorgan's surface. The four main continents were found at the heart of this ocean.

Islands and Skylands
Beyond the continents which surrounded the Varheid Sea, there were many isles in the unexplored stretches of the Nautilus Ocean. The vast majority of this ocean is unexplored, and legend says that entire continents lie hidden in mist or forgotten under the waves. The skies are also home to mysterious, floating masses of land known as "skylands," animated by unknown magic.

*Taivor - Taivor was a series of islands off the west coast of Dhelarushick, home to several colonies of the Polvorans.

*Shai Archipelago - Also called the North Nautilus Islands, the Shai Archipelago was a collection of islands to the east of Mrigae. It was once home to the Empire of Shai-Shan before the Golem Rebellion and war with the Aurum Confederacy.

*The Triangle - The Triangle consisted of three small islands where many travelers stop while going to and from Valordyn.

*Atonicka - Atonicka was an island of Amicalis to the east of Obreidhion. Atonicka was overrun by thick jungle terrain, and blasted by hurricane winds from the open sea to the east, making it largely uninhabited up until the Diesel Age.

*South Nautilus Isles - The South Nautilus Islands were a chain of islands to the south of the Gibral Peninsula, making them ripe colonial targets for the Kingdom of Polvora.

*Ringshadow Isles - The Ringshadow Isles were a series of islands far south of mainland Khyorgan. The Ringshadow Isles were so named because they fell under the shadow of Erudite's ring, Isha’s Grace, causing a chilly climate quite in contrast to its surroundings to the north and south

.

Civilizations
The below civilizations are organized by what age they were founded in. Names in italics were no longer extant by the time of the Khyorganese Renaissance.

Creation Era
Sentinel Empire
The Sentinel Empire is the Sentinel government. It was ruled by the Sentinel Core from the Sky Fortress, until they were destroyed during the Demon Wars, ending Sentinel civilization and leaving only a few surviving sentinels scattered throughout the world.

The Root Carvers
The Root Carvers were a mysterious race from the Creation Era that made carvings and cities under the World Tree. They existed in the caves formed by the tree's roots, the full extent of which remain unexplored. They were known to Mortals only through their ruins, leaving their true identity a mystery.
The Dark Age
The Shadow Force
The Shadow Force was a sinister organisation that wants to see Khyorgan being turned into a paradise for demons and undead. They had troops and cells all over Khyorgan and attempted to influence almost every nation and every race on Khyorgan from the inside. They collapsed following the Demon Wars.

Garchom Empire
This was once a powerful empire, centred on Mildhurian and ruled by Quillens. King Theyri IV conquered Mildhurian and destroyed the Garchom Empire to found the Theyrian Empire.

Amicalis
Amicalis is a land in eastern Obreidhion which was formerly under the control of the Empire of the Red Tower, until the large slave populace revolted and established their own nation in the final years of the Khyorgan Dark Age. Amicalis is a technologically forward nation, with innovations such as steam-propelled warships and trains helping them to remain a formidable power.

Medieval Era
Kingdom of Polvora
The Kingdom of Polvora was a nation in southern Obreidhion. They have formed a vast seafaring empire in the oceans to the south and explored the deserts to the north. Polvora's colonial pursuits in the South Nautilus Isles and Taivor were points of contention between the Polvorans and other peoples.

Kingdom of Taurya
Taurya was a powerful nation that ruled much of western Obreidhon for several centuries. However, after several wars with the Theyrian Empire and the attempted Demon conquest of the plane, their once-legendary military force was shattered and the Theyrians annexed them.

Archei Clans
The Archei Clans were a collection of Dwarven clans that formed a powerful and rich confederacy. As their name suggests, they came from the mountains of Archei.

United Orcish Tribes of Gorholl
TBA

Imperial Era
Theyrian Empire
The Theyrian Empire was a mainly Human-run empire centred on the island of Mildhurian. It was created by King Theyri IV, an exiled leader of the ancient Kingdom of Taurya famous for his crusades against the Abominations. He founded the empire after conquering Mildhurian from the Quillens, who back then were a barbaric race of flesh-eaters.

Clan Permulaan
A colony of Kess found in the island chain of Kesuma, the Permulaan tribes were explorers and hunters who valued honour, teamwork and cooperation. They lived in small villages and have very little technological sophistication, though their ships were highly advanced.

Kingdom of Karang Batu
The Kingdom of Karang Batu was a relatively minor civilization found on Karang Batu and some of the other South Nautilus Islands. They were originally a tribal society similar in structure to Clan Permulaan of Kesuma, but thanks to their use of Segaran technology, they rose in technological power far faster than they should have and soon became poised on the brink of civil war.

Allied Khionic Monasteries
TBA

Orcish Alliance of New Gorholl
The Orcish tribes of the deserts of Lexighor formed a loose confederacy to consolidate the scattered remnants of the great confederacy that was Gorholl.

Confederacy of the South Nautilus Isles
In the South Nautilus Isles during the events of the War of Khyorgan, a once-powerful mercenary organization was attacked by the Abyssal Machine while retreating from a disastrous battle against the Demons. Stranded on Karang Batu, they used Segaran technology to build an imposing fleet and formed the Confederacy of the South Nautilus Isles, an organization of pirates and mercenaries which commanded the waters south of Karang Batu.

Biology
Khyorgan has a completely unique biology, since life here was created independently of the First Plane thanks to the use of the Aard'Vorn known as the Eye of Long.

Flora
*Asgard Tree: There was only one known individual of this species. See World Tree.

*Karnoflore: TBA

*Nimbus tree: These trees were born aloft by sacs of hydrium, and float in massive aerial forests.

*TBA

Fauna
*Cetusky: Majestic, floating, whale-like creatures, Cetuskies were considered sacred and could live to be a thousand years old.

*Jaëger: Jaëgers were predatory, pack-hunting bipeds found across much of Andavronia and southern Lexighor. They were the Khyorganese equivalent of wolves.

*Saurian: Found in parts of Obreidhion, these gigantic predators are larger relatives of Jaëgers. They were frequently used as mounts by the Polvorans.

*Hinust Occupying the same spot in the ecosystem as the Jaëger east of the Amacata Desert, the Hinust is a furry, somewhat canine-esque predator with facial features similar to a mole, which hunted in packs. Hinust were a light brown color, with a white underbelly and black stripe across their back, and weighed around 60-75 lbs, or 27 to 34 kg.

*Werewyrm: Found in deserts to the east, these huge, serpent-like beasts were known to be very similar to the Sentinels. Whether or not they're related or the product of convergent evolution is unknown.

*Alleghor: A close relative of the Werewyrm, the Alleghor was a serpentine predator found in the Amacata Desert and historically across much of Khyorgan's deserts. It tunneled in the sand and sprays poison at it's prey. It could also fatally electrocute animals.

*Butanaga: A dragon-like creature found on the islands of Kesuma. Hunted by Clan Permulaan.

*Octhokrey: This massive aquatic predator resembled a squid, but it is much larger than any squids known from Eidyn and had between six and fourteen tentacles.

*Swiftrunner: A gliding, herbivorous biped found south of the Gomchar Sea, the Swiftrunner was a very common sight for Khyorganese travellers and a favourite meal for Saurians and Jaëgers. There were five varieties of Swiftrunner:
**Common Swiftrunner: The standard Swiftrunner found across the south of continental Khyorgan. They were extremely common and often found in plains and savannas. They fed on grass, trees and shrubs, though in a drought they would eat almost anything. Their chief predators were Jaëgers and Saurians. Recently, they have been introduced to Eidyn and have quickly turned into an invasive species.
**Amacatan Swiftrunner: A variety of Swiftrunner adapted for the harsh and unforgiving Amacatan Desert. They were the smallest of the Swiftrunners. An Amacatan Swiftrunner could go for between 7 and 21 days without water, though even with these adaptations, few crossed the heart of the desert and live. They were very uncommon in the wild, thanks to overcapture by the Picos and, later, the Taulans.
**Mountain Swiftrunner: Found in the Archei Mountains and built to survive these majestic but merciless mountains. Their gliding abilities made them especially light-footed and nimble, a useful trait in avoiding deadly falls. They also have far denser fur than other Swiftrunners. Commonly tamed by Dwarves.
**Garchom Swiftrunner: Garchom Swiftrunners were the rarest kind of Swiftrunner. They were found only on islands and beaches of the Garchom Sea. They were the only Swiftrunners known to be amphibious, having adapted their wings into flippers. Their specialized adaptations to life on the beaches and islands have meant they were extremely sensitive to habitat loss.
**Domestic Swiftrunner: Descended from the Common Swiftrunner, these farm animals could be found nowhere in the wild. They were bred for their long hair, useful for producing clothing, and their nutritious and delicious milk. These eventually became the most common Swiftrunner, and they could be seen in captivity as far afield as Andavronia and the Shai Archipelago. They were one of the two Swiftrunner varieties accidentally introduced to Eidyn.

*Burbarst: Large hogs, some of which were domesticated into Amicalis Pigs.
**King Burbarst: An especially large, but rare subspecies that could grow to a maximum of 1,100 lbs (500 kg) and 5 feet tall (1.65 meters) at the shoulder.

*Entherd: A large gavialid crocodilian, between 3.5 and 5 meters (11.5 and 16.5 ft) in length and with a green coloration, only found in the northern bogs of the Oceanhead and Bezard jarldoms.

*Blomoros: A coastal crustacean of Amicalis with a somewhat irregular pentagon shell, colored pink and white, the Blomoros would sunbathe in the day and then submerge itself in the cooler depths, attracting leeches to eat with it's false body heat.

*Thaurogont: Native to the savannas of Amacata, the mighty Thaurogont was a behemoth-sized herbivore and sometimes a meal for Saurians. It was roughly the size of an Eidynese elephant and was partly responsible for the general lack of trees in the savanna, due to its love of wood and leafy foliage. Historically, they were tamed as beasts of war, but as technology displaced their usefulness, they found themselves used only by the Taulan and Picos tribes, and, soon enough, not at all. Two subspecies are recognized:
**Savannah Thaurogont: The larger, more famous kind.
**Forest Thaurogont: A lesser-known variation that lived in dense jungles in Andavronia. Very rare.

*Theyri's Jaeger: A predator known from the northern shore of the Garchom Sea, named after King Theyri IV. Despite the name, it was not closely related to the true Jaegers.

*Pentacorn: A massive beast similar to a cross between a rhinoceros and a ceratopsian dinosaur, the Pentacorn was a large herbivore found mainly in the Amacatan Savannah. Though generally a peaceful grazer, its deadly head of horns was the last thing many an overconfident Jaëger ever saw.

*Thoach: A nocturnal hippopotamus known to charge people, and capable of swift charges despite its semiaquatic nature. Thoach could be found in both the eastern and western savannas of Amacata.

*Tonittor: A gigantic turtle that preyed on all but the largest of pachyderms, and relied on its armored shell to protect it from their hooves, tusks, and teeth. The Tonittor's shell protected it from swords, maces, axes, arrows, and low caliber gunfire, but its immense weight obligates the Tonittor to be an ambush predator.

*Vesont: A large deinotheriate terrible beast pachyderm, used as a war animal by Amicalis prior to the Diesel Age.

*Buffalox: A common ranch animal known for its hide and meat.

**Oxtaur: A subspecies of Buffalox. Oxtaur have larger horns and are far more aggressive.

*Simlan: A large, golden-haired, quadrapedal predator native to Andavronia.

*Karakai: A massive beetle-like animal found in deserts north of the Garchom Sea, as big as a horse and with the ability to fly. Traditionally ridden by Theyrian warriors, now only rarely found in captivity. Critically endangered in the wild due to being hunted by Demons in the war.

*Climber Bear: A human-sized tan bear adapted to climb rocks, found mostly in the Eastern Range.

*Gomlid: A red, bipedal amphibian with opposable thumbs native to the mountains of Amicalis.

*Tonacer: A metallic, chrome creature, whose carapace reflected the harmful rays from the sun and snow. The Tonacer had a square body and four legs, with five eyes. It was found in the high mountains of Amicalis, and possibly the Khios Mountains as well.

*Dyncha A poisonous frog that often stood on two legs, and could grow to considerable size. Found exclusively on the Obreidhion island of Atonicka. A distant relative of the Gomlid.

*Serther: A titanic serpent, that could grow to 35 feet in length, found within jungles.

*Tanage: A brilliantly colored Casuariidaen bird from the coasts of the island of Atonicka.

*Phoaldilt: A large, fast, dark brown scorpion creature with a legspan of around 2 feet (0.65 meters), its trail curves under it's body instead of above it, to allow it to sting shelled prey. The Phoaldilt had only one cyclopean eye, and was found within the caves below Amicalis, east of the Amacata Desert.

*Etelmit: Three feet (one meter) long from head to tail, the Etelmit was a eurypterid that inhabited flooded cave systems, it could be found primarily in Obreidhion, especially in Amicalis.

Races
Immigrant Races
*Human: The Human race was, along with the various Elven species, one of the more dominant races in Khyorgan and thus could be found almost anywhere, although their privileges depend on the nation they reside in.
**Polvoran: Polvorans were a subrace of Humans formed when elves and humans of the Gibral Peninsula interbred with one another. They tended to have light bronze to dark skin, and most of them had pointed ears.
**Tarrbuskan: Tarrbuskans were an ethnic group from Tarrbusk, a region of Amicalis consisting of most of the forests and plains of the east.
**Alraithian: The Alraithians were a human race derived from the west of Amicalis, Alraith. They were pale skinned, with ulotrichous hair and broad noses, and their homeland consisted of savannas, velds, and deserts.
*Kess: Kess were a short, skinny human ethnicity found throughout Khyorgan, but especially in the South Nautilus Isles, where many lived tribal lifestyles.

*Elf: Several races of Elf exist in Khyorgan.
**Moon Elf: Moon Elves were descended from seafairing settlers from Valorum. In Khyorgan, they were mostly associated with Naticidia, an order of moon elves living in the Ringshadow Isles, whose researchers sometimes traveled throughout Khyorgan's more civilized regions to learn more about the world.
**High Elf
**Wood Elf
**Kronos Elf
**Vulcan Elf: Vulcan Elves arrived from Heznland under the banner of the Empire of the Red Tower, and pillaged and enslaved other races upon their arrival. Vulcan Elves were driven out of Khyorgan in huge numbers following the collapse of the Empire of the Red Tower, but some remained afterwards.

*Dwarf: Dwarves were the rulers of the Archei Mountains. They could be found across Khyorgan, but they were most at home underground, in their mines.

*Orc: Orcs were a race that lived in the Desert of Lexighor. They were frequently targets of prejudice from other races of Khyorgan, who wrongly associated them with the demons or with Khyorgan's hostile indigenous mortals, such as the Haazrade and Quillen.

*Demon (?)

*Maliekt: The maliekt were a race of burrowing insect people from Gricsyn. The origins of the maliekt before their arrival to Khyorgan are unclear, it is possible they rapidly evolved through some means from more primitive beings from the United Plane.

*Byn'makha: The byn'makha were a race of semiaquatic reptilians with long, thin snouts for catching fish.

Native Races
*Sentinels: These magical, dragon-like creatures hailed from The Sky Fortress and were considered the guardians of Khyorgan. They were almost entirely wiped out during the Demon Wars.

*Quillen: In the later eras of Erudite,Quillens were mostly a race of scholars and religious figures, but they had a bloody history. They originated on the island of Mildhurian, and were originally organized into warrior clans. However, one clan was able to conquer all the others, and the united Quillens ventured across the Garchom Sea in the midst of the Dark Age. They formed an empire and ruled the shores of Garchom until the dawn of the Imperial Era, when King Theyri IV was exiled to the edge of their territory. The Tauryans considered him as good as dead. Incredibly, though, Theyri IV was able to gather up an army and conquered Mildhurian, founding the Theyrian Empire and exiling the Quillens from their land. With their military prowess, their empire and their honour lost, many Quillens turned to more peaceful pursuits, slowly transforming into their more peaceful modern-day counterparts. However, someQuillens still harkened to their warlike past, and tribes of Quillen warriors roamed the area south of the Garchom Sea and wait for a chance to reclaim what is rightfully theirs - Mildhurian and the Garchom Sea.

*Golems: The Golems were an ancient race of colossal elemental creatures. The Empire of Shai-shan enslaved many golems in Mrigae, but after their disastrous war with the Aurum Confederacy, Shai-shan no longer had the resources to contain or control their powerful former servants.

*Abominations: Abominations were a race of beings that had to alter the bodies and minds of other creatures to increase their population; Abominations were once quite common and deadly in Khyorgan's more hostile deserts, the Amacata Desert and Desert of Lexighor, but in the wake of the Abomination Crusades they consolidated their power in Dhelarushick.

*Haazrade: Haazrade were a race of bipedal, squarish, archaic mammals, with large, powerful arms that allowed them to swing through the trees of their homeland, Boegaden, in northeastern Obreidhion. They were known for their brutality and strength, as well as their primitive society.

Andavronia was a continent of Khyorgan, supposedly once isolated and surrounded by sea until it was pushed northwards until it formed a land border with Lexighor, though this may be an exaggerated claim. Andavronia was the smallest of the mainland continents.

Though the authenticity of the claim that Andavronia was a lone landmass pushed into mainland Khyorgan is dubious, it can be taken as fact that even once Andavronia bordered Lexighor by land, it was a somewhat isolated continent. The Deilkhos mountain range separated Andavronia and Lexighor somewhat, though not enough to stop dangerous abominations and Quillen from roving the Andavronian countryside. To the east of Andavronia, across from the Ibrin Peninsula, was the Gulf of Segara, guarded by the titanic Abyssal Machine, a roving metal monster which sunk intruding ships.

The continent's southern shores were occupied by the Neyasthen mountain range. The craggy cliff faces of this elevated area would have made a southern entrance difficult. The continent's western shores were far more hospitable, and provided easy access to the fertile Nezghan Fields. However, to the west of Andavronia was the sprawling Desert of Lexighor, devoid of any wooded areas in which to construct ships.

Maj:

The Amacata Desert was a vast, expansive desert to the north of the Gibral Peninsula. It made up a large portion of the continent of Obreidhion.

Geography
Formed from the rain shadow of a large mountain range along the eastern coast, the Amacata Desert was a dry region with pocket oases. The northernmost and southernmost areas were suitable for life, but separating the two areas was a barren, uninhabitable region at the Equator.
Regions
Northern Plains
The Northern Plains were a flat area that gradually transitioned into a more temperate environment.
Equator
The Amacata Desert had a death zone around the equator completely devoid of life. The area was littered with the bones of travelers and animals that failed to cross this part of the desert. While the outermost parts of the equator are blistering hot, the innermost region under the shadow of Isha's Grace is blistering cold that create a multitude of gales and storms.

The Kingdom of Taurya was a kingdom located in Obreidhion, the southeastern continent of Khyorgan.

History
Taurya was originally founded around 200 years before the Demon Wars, and was a successful nation that established oceanic trade routes to other Khyorganese nations throughout Khyorgan, and even established overseas colonies and trading posts in the southern Amacata Desert. Taurya's population included Humans alongside Orcs as well as several varieties of Elf. Elves from places such as the Allied Khionic Monasteries and Bossniri would sometimes immigrate to Taurya.

The Tauryans extended their reach to the Picos Mountains region, where they built the Wall of Picos, a defensive structure meant to defend against the Kingdom of Polvora during the Tauryan-Polvoran War.

Taurya was hit hard by the Demon Wars and ravaged by demonic forces. Although the demons ultimately lost the war, Taurya was economically devastated and collapsed. For the next 200 years, Taurya would be split among warring petty kingdoms. Its former territories in the Amacata region were overtaken by Polvora, such as the city of White Flag, while the Picos region would come to be under the control of the Picos Barbarians.

The former territories of Taurya were terrorized by the ferocious Quillen and Abominations, as well as by eachother.

After centuries of having faded into memory, Taurya would be reformed by the Theyri Dynasty. Beginning his campaign to reunite Taurya in 210 ADW, Theyri III was eventually named as the first king of Taurya in 200 years.

The next king of Taurya, Theyri IV, would rally the Tauryan people together and launch the Abomination Crusades with the goal of wiping out the Abominations once and for all. King Theyri would send his troops throughout Obreidhion, Lexighor, and Andavronia, allying with other nations and building positive foreign relations for the Tauryans. The crusades proved successful, as the Abominations were gradually exterminated from the civilized southerly regions of Khyorgan.

However, when Theyri IV's troops returned to Taurya, he turned them against his own people, to drive out the Elves and the Orcs and the other nonhumans, declaring them as equally inhuman and deserving of scorn as the Abominations. Although king Theyri had grown popular with many of his subjects, many of the feudal lords were dissatisfied with his rule, and more and more pressure built on the king. Eventually, under threat of civil war, king Theyri was forced to abdicate the throne. Ultimately, a peaceful transfer of power was reached, with numerous compromises and allowances for the former king .

However, Theyri IV was not finished with his ambitions. The former king traveled throughout Taurya rallying the people for another crusade. Although there were concerns that the deposed monarch was hoping to incite a civil war, he never called for violence against the government; Instead, he rallied his loyalists to invade the island of Mildhurian and defeat the Quillen. The Tauryans, viewing it as an opportunity to expatriate the political influence of the Theyrian dynasty, were happy to allow this plan to process. King Theyri and the vassals that remained loyal to him gathered an invasion force and sailed to Mildhurian.

King Theyri did not intend to conquer the island for the Tauryan establishment, and instead declared a new Theyrian Empire. Many Tauryan lords remained loyal to the former king, but they had spent their resources on their war against the Quillen. The Tauryan government, knowing the Theyrians had used up their manpower and resources, forced their supporters in Taurya out of power and sent them into exile in the new Theyrian Empire.

Tauryan and Theyrian relations would fluctuate, and eventually the Tauryans would attempt to blockade the Theyrian participation in the Twin Nautilus Trade.

Shale is an island nation off the coast of Emsius. It is known for being surrounded by a constant thunderstorm which occurred as a result of an ancient Bargod who cursed the island so that they'd never see the sun again. In spite of the constant gloomy, depressing weather, the people of Shale remain in high spirits as their nation prospers with commercial agriculture and technology.

As a result of harnessing the lightning storms, Shale became the first nation in Emsius to develop practical use for electricity, and they also boast one of the most sophisticated plumbing systems.

Geography
Shale is prone to constant floods and erosion. The rainstorm has almost very literally washed the island away, and if it were not for the complex terrace structures and sewer systems, the entire island would have sunk.

Very little of the island remains natural terrain as large rice paddies and raised platforms and bridges cover much of what little land remains - the natural terrain mostly consisting of swamp land. Power lines covered in protective, insulative stiff pipes and towering lightning rods are everywhere to be found as the people transformed the island's curse into an electric power grid.

Monorail trains also run throughout the island for transport of goods as well as people allowing for much of the island to prosper.

Points of interest
Shale's capital is Lùthtur City, consisting of a series of skyscrapers as well as a massive tower in the center serving as the capitol building. Electricity surges through and powers through massive pylons that light up the entire city while the sewage systems control flooding and erosion by circulating the water through underground pipes. The sewer systems below the city are massive enough to fit in an entirely new district, often home to the middle class and the poor.

Government
Shale is run via a parliament system with a prime minister in charge. Thus, Shale is one of the few democratic governments in Emsius, the other being Kulbrenna.

Slavery is outlawed, but mages are still treated as second class citizens. Those who actively practice witchcraft are not allowed to vote and are often denied the right to a trial.

Religion
Shale tends to be laxer in terms of religion as they have no central system of belief. Worship of Asmos is not outlawed and the construction of churches is allowed. Worship of other gods however is frowned upon.

Culture
The people of Shale live modest but spirited lives. Common attire consists of ponchos and large hats. Because it is often difficult to see one's face due to the weather, Shalic people often greet one another with their names first no matter how often they see one another. Giving one's name is paired with a "hello".

History
Early history
Shale's first inhabitants were a small tribe that worshipped a Bargod named Ambisagrus who controlled thunderstorms. He would be appeased by offering sacrifices in his name in hopes of good weather and to repel the raging storms that plagued the seas.

Asmosian missionaries would later arrive on the island to spread the worship of Asmos. When they succeeded in converting the Shalic tribe, Ambisagrus felt betrayed resulting in him cursing the island forever with an endless thunderstorm. The pouring rain caused floods and destruction, but the people if the island persisted. Ambisagrus realizing their resolve chose to leave the island for Feris while leaving the curse behind.

In spite of the weather, the people of Shale adapted. They grew in power through trade and agriculture and eventually discovered electricity. The thunderstorm which started out as a curse ended up becoming a gift making Shale one of the most prosperous nations in Emsius.

The Competing Inventors
Shale was suffering from a shortage of alchemists who could transmute ore into coal, but island's inhabitants were very adaptable. Much of Shale's technological innovations were responsible for two famous inventors: Dealan Tàladh and Solas Builgein. Both were brilliant scientists although they were major rivals of one another. They'd often try to outdo one another with their own inventions - ironically, much of their motivation for creating new gadgets was for simply the fame and reputation, but the bitter competition resulted in Shale having one of the most developed industrial states in Emsius.

In one major court case (aptly named Tàladh vs. Builgein), Builgein was sued for having supposedly stolen the design for the clockwork automaton servant. The case was eventually settled by determining that Builgen had the rights to the design as he had patented it first in spite of Tàladh having created the designs first.

The Competition Ends
Over time, Tàladh's reputation slipped as Builgein had begun taking credit for much of his inventions. Builgein would eventually become appointed by the prime minister as the grand inventor, and would be responsible for overseeing many of Shale's future developments - Builgein's experiments now had the backing of the government and had almost complete free reign over his inventions.

As a result, Tàladh wished to retaliate and eventually fled underground to the sewers below Lùthtur City in search of an investor who could fund his next big project.

Ekati was a source of magical power found only on Erudite, it was an element that usually came in the form of a crystal, an ore that shaped the world for many of the mortal races of Erudite. It has been used for a variety of applications, starting off as ingredients for simple spells before being used for industrial purposes in the form of magitek - long before the invention of steam and coal power.

Understanding of ekati has changed over thousands of years. Early studies of ekati once classified them as completely separate substances but newer developments have led to the theory that all ekati has a common source. Their divergent formations have simply led to them taking on different shapes and properties. It is believed that ekati crystals are attuned to the seven elements in differing amounts, which is what allows them to exhibit so many different properties.
Types of ekati
Magia Ekati
Typically, the assumed subject if "Ekati" was mentioned, Magia Ekati was a gemstone which could hold and unleash magic. Magia Ekati crystals functioned like batteries, storing magical energy for a near-indefinite period of time if left undisturbed. The Ekati crystal's size would, under normal circumstances, be proportionate to the energy contained within.

Due to the immense power contained within the relatively small space of a crystal, Magia Ekati was a volatile element. If an ekati crystal were cracked, magic would start to leak out in the form of an almost unnoticeable silver mist called Majbreath. Any spell cast when in the presence of Majbreath becomes several times more powerful, usually when the caster does not want it to be. Even small spells like changing a book from tiny size to normal size in Majbreath can result in the book becoming massive.

Magic power could also be transferred between two ekati crystals. Usually, this ability was used in charging smaller Ekati-powered tools or weapons from a large storage battery, or refueling a larger container with smaller, recently mined crystals. Some magic creatures, such as the Fey found in Sky Pass, Teleios, and East Teleios in northern Eidyn, or the Magma Golems of Heznland and Mrigae, had an Ekati "core" as their central organ, which they could recharge by draining other Ekati crystals.

If too much energy was transferred into one crystal, overloading its capacity, the crystal's powers could vent out in unpredictable and frequently dangerous ways.

Magia Ekati was found naturally as a crystalline ore occurring in veins below Erudite's surface, and in its mountains. Ekati would sometimes bubble up from deep below the ground, usually underwater, and small but continuous seeps of it allowed some organic life to rely on its presence. Some species can even spray liquid ekati to defend itself from predators.
Eneran Ekati
Aligned heavily with the element of Aether, this type of Ekati had a neutralizing effect on gravity. Eneran Ekati was found in abundance on floating islands, the levitation of which the Ekati was responsible for. Eneran Ekati crystals were sometimes used by mortals to get their airships aloft.

Parean Ekati
Parean Ekati was the rarest of the Ekati variants. Instead of using magic, or creating it, it instead nullified magic, and destroyed Magia Ekati. Parean Ekati was deadly to many creatures that relied on magic to survive.

When Parean Ekati nullified magic, it disintegrated, either partially or in full depending on how much magic it absorbed. Parean Ekati's magic immunity made it difficult to locate for the mortal races of Erudite, driving up its rarity, value, and mystique.

Deep Ekati
Deep Ekati is considered a forbidden form of ekati. It is essentially crystallized chaos from when the universe was still being formed - essentially, a solid form of the essence of the plane of Brunikor. Found around in the deepest caverns of Erudite, Deep Ekati glows a crimson red. It is incredibly volatile, capable of unleashing immense magical energy more potent than any other form of ekati. It is capable of tearing ruptures in space-time into Brunikor to release not only raw, destructive chaos energy but also armies of Demons. Thus, Deep Ekati is a crucial component in complex summoning rituals though it can also be used as an energy source just like any other form of ekati.

Like Magia Ekati, Deep Ekati also produces a Majbreath mist (known to Leir and Emsius as Deep Ekati radiation) when cracked. However, what makes it different is that direct, unprotected exposure has some disturbing effects. If direct contact with exposed skin is made, a mortal becomes what is known as a ghoul - a being afflicted with constant pain and agony while becoming rampant towards any other living being. Depending on the amount of exposure, after a certain amount of time, a ghoul will violently explode, releasing crystalline shrapnel and more mist to infect other beings.

It is thought that Deep Ekati is the byproduct of Vaskus, a malevolent god that formed as a dark counterpart to Ouros shortly after the creation of the universe. As such, even though Vaskus is long dead, his memories are preserved within the lattices of Deep Ekati crystals. Essentially, it is theorized that Deep Ekati is in fact the crystallized hatred of Vaskus - hence why it is so destructive. Due to its dangers, an order of knights known as the Arbiters patrol Erudite's underground doing everything absolutely necessary to stop anyone from attempting to mine Deep Ekati.

Thale Ekati
Thale Ekati is a version of Ekati that only exists under the very high pressures found in Erudite's core. It produces magnetic waves that help support the magnetic field around Erudite. Additionally, Thale Ekati exerts a pseudo-magnetic force on other forms of Ekati, which controls the natural flow of liquid Ekati from the core to the surface of the world.

Although its waves can be measured, the mortal researchers of Erudite can only speculate as to its existence as it does not naturally form at the surface or leave the core of Erudite.

Thale Ekati takes on a silver appearance. It is not thought to be usable by mortals for any magical feats.

Trivia
*Ekáti is Greek for Hecate, the ancient Greek goddess of magic.
*Thale Ekati is named after Thales of Miletus, who did some of the first ever recorded research and study of magnetic lodestones.

Properties
Hefastium is a round or oval piece of volcanic glass that weigh anywhere from 2 to 4 pounds each. Depending on the outside temperature, a piece of hefastium can heat anywhere from a twenty to forty foot square area. These stones last three years before they start to lose their warmth, and must be either refilled with heat or replaced. This fact keeps their value up in the colder regions of the world.

These magical stones are formed naturally in and near volcanoes or lava vents in the ground. Like ekati, if cracked they leak a certain energy, this time a sooty black smoke called Heatplume. Heatplume is as dangerous as Majbreath, as if a fire is ignited while in Heatplume it will explode. It shall also explode if shattered, though hefastium much harder to break than ekati. Explosions caused by Hefastite are high in heat and low in pressure when compared with traditional explosives such as Gunpowder.
