Hefastite

Hefastite are small glowing stones of volcanic glass found in Erudite and other planes that emit natural heat. They are thought to be a distant variation of ekati.

Properties

Hefastium is a round or oval piece of volcanic glass that weigh anywhere from 2 to 4 pounds each. Depending on the outside temperature, a piece of hefastium can heat anywhere from a twenty to forty foot square area. These stones last three years before they start to lose their warmth, and must be either refilled with heat or replaced. This fact keeps their value up in the colder regions of the world.

These magical stones are formed naturally in and near volcanoes or lava vents in the ground. Like ekati, if cracked they leak a certain energy, this time a sooty black smoke called Heatplume. Heatplume is as dangerous as Majbreath, as if a fire is ignited while in Heatplume it will explode. It shall also explode if shattered, though hefastium much harder to break than ekati. Explosions caused by Hefastite are high in heat and low in pressure when compared with traditional explosives such as Gunpowder.
