The Spinnevolk are a spider-like race of people known as a vile and evil race. This erroneous belief means that Spinnevolk are, best-case scenario, chased out of the area surrounding whatever settlements they're sighted near. Worst case, they're lynched or otherwise killed in cold blood. This has lead to many groups of Spinnevolk being just as belligerent and hostile as people assume they are.
However, most Spinnevolk are actually quite peaceful, or at least just territorial. Those few settlements that befriend a Spinnevolk find them to be powerful and skillful allies.
Appearance
Spinnevolk possess a somewhat unusual bodytype, looking like the upper body of a humanoid race, from the hips up, growing out of the face of a giant spider.
Different ethnicities of Spinnevolk have upper bodies that resemble different kinds of humanoids; some resemble Humans, some the various kinds of Elves, some Dwarves, and so-on. They can also resemble various kinds of spiders, from black widows, to wolf spiders, to tarantulas, and so-on.
Culture
Spinnevolk culture is insular and territorial, with gatherings of more than 10 Spinnevolk never gathering in one place for longer than a few days. Different groups of Spinnevolk tend to have different subcultures; some are peaceful, while others are more belligerent.
