"You cannot silence the call of Vaskus for he is a patient deity. Even in death, his indominatible will remains iron clad, and we will continue his work."
―Serpent's Fang member

The Serpent's Fang is a cell that considers itself a successor to the Shadow Force. After the end of the Demon Wars, the Shadow Force was driven out from Valordyn and Khyorgan. Most of the original Shadow Force had been imprisoned or executed for their war crimes, but a select few managed to escape to the south, hiding out in the continent of Swen which had not been discovered by the rest of the world at the time.

Plotting a retaliation

Following the Demon Wars, the Serpent's Fang had realized that the Shadow Force's defeat was predestined by Asmos himself. Coming to the realization that future attempts to set loose a demon invasion may fail due to destiny itself, they became intensely interested in the weaves of fate. Using chronomancy, they peered forward in time to find the next possible moment to stage an invasion, eventually discovering that they had no way to possibly win until over a thousand years into the future past the Maximum Chronomancy Date. When the weaves of fate would run out by then, they could perhaps stage their next invasion.

While hiding out in Swen, the Serpent's Fang discovered that Vaskus still lived to a certain extent. Despite their god being long dead, by complete accident, Vaskus' memories had been preserved within the Tree of Dreams in the form Antithesis. As dreamwalking was relatively unknown to the rest of the world, they would hold an advantage in that they could enact their invasion in a way that the rest of the world would be unprepared for. Thus, all they could do was bide their time and wait to strike. In the meantime, they continued their secretive, occult research and to perhaps bend fate to their will as much as they could.

The Serpent's Fang are said to have sowed the seeds of discord among the Oneirian gods, attempting to provoke them into a war that would cause the Second Rupture.
