Swen
Swen is a continent in Erudite's southern hemisphere located directly south of Eidyn and directly west of Bhari'Adavi. Its near absence of ekati deposits initially made the land uninteresting to outsiders, but after the discovery of blue sap from the Tree of Dreams as a viable new energy source, it grew into a new hub of trade especially in the wake of the Ekati Shortage.
History
Though it remained unknown to the majority of the world for most of recorded history, Swen was considered the first area in Erudite to be directly affected by the Shattering. When Vaskus murdered Isha, a fragment of her corpse fell to the earth, and the resulting impact obliterated all life on the continent. The impact alone created clouds of ash and smoke to spread throughout the entire southwestern hemisphere with remnants being felt as far as southern Eidyn while the blast wave violently ignited all ekati ore close to the surface, hence why Swen is so devoid of the substance.
Eons later, an Aetherian named the Great Spirit made an attempt to bring life back to the continent by planting the last seed of the near extinct Tree of Dreams, enriching the soil with blue sap and providing an alternative source of magic. Because of this, the mortals that later settled the region went down an entirely different technological path than the rest of the world.
Geography
Swen is divided into several smaller regions.
Continents
- Averlam - The largest region of Swen. It consists of temperate grasslands, a desert, large snow-capped mountains and deciduous forests. In the heart of the Kalta Mountains is an ancient citadel built to protect the Tree of Dreams. The southern edge of the continent is home to Scar Crater, the impact site of the fragment of Isha which is still clearly visible today.
- Keraguay - A continent covered in tropical jungles located south of Averlam.
Seas
- Sea of Acheron - A large ocean separating Averlam from the Shachor Archipelago.
Islands
- Shachor Archipelago - A series of islands directly west of Averlam comprising of temperate rainforests.
