MagiNet
The MagiNet is an artificial network of mixed magic and technology including telepathic links, teleportation anchors, aethernet cables as well as radio and wireless networks. Built as a cooperative network of various nations around Eidyn, Valorum, Khyorgan and Swen, it allows for instantaneous communication across all of Erudite.
History
Following the Battle for Erudite, the idea of a worldwide communications network was conceived in hopes of improving coordination further should a world-ending threat like Boadra ever arise again. The idea of establishing dedicated teleportation anchors to make magical teleportation much simpler and consume less mana and ekati.
Experiments of transferring magic through cables had been experimented on before, but the idea of implementing it on a larger scale was thought to be technically infeasible. The idea of using orbital satellites to redirect teleportation locations was also proposed, but due to the sheer size of Erudite, this would have only been useful across a single continent. The most practical solution, given enough time and resources, would be to route these cables through Subterra, not only due to the shorter distance but also avoiding threats of sea monsters were the cables to be put into the ocean instead.
Each nation that had agreed to be part of the MagiNet project became responsible for their own section of laying out MagiNet cables. Underground-dwelling species such as the dwarves offered their insight on the most optimal routes, avoiding the nesting grounds of Kaiju as well as large desposits of Deep Ekati that could corrupt the signals. The actual process of laying out the cables involved underground airships unraveling them and dragging them through the tunnels and caverns. Some areas had to be laid out by hand for areas that were too small for the airships to enter.
The project did not go smoothly at all times. Kaiju attacks often resulted in the loss of equipment. Additionally, several underground nomadic factions became hostile due to the cables crossing over their hunting grounds. The general shortage of ekati also caused significant delays due to fuel shortages for the airships. New types of non-magical airships had to be created towards the latter half of the project to replace the older ones.
After centuries of work and collaboration across multiple nations, the network was officially almost exactly 1,000 years after the Demon Wars, the start of Erudite's Cyber Era.
