This article covers the cosmology of the universe of Erudite.

Ekati

Main article: Ekati

Ekati is an ore-like substance leftover from the creation of the world. It is a power source that can be attuned to form any one of the seven elements: aether, air, fire, wood, water, earth and metal. The ability to manipulate the powers of ekati, known as magic, is often limited by the physical and mental capabilities of the one doing so. For mortals, it can take many years to master the arts of magic.

The entire universe was once made entirely of ekati but over random generations of chaos, the gods eventually came into existence and shaped the universe. Besides being found in Erudite's crust, leftover ekati can be found in asteroids and meteors as well as in distant stars.

A variant of ekati found closer to Erudite's core is known as Deep Ekati. It is far more volatile and dangerous than normal ekati, and it is also capable of what is considered to be more taboo forms of magic.

Seven Elements

The seven elements have been studied by cultures all over Erudite. By manipulating them, a variety of different effects can be achieved.

  • Aether - Aether is the cosmic forces that connect time and space together. One can perform illusion magic, teleportation and divination with the powers of aether. Aether is also the name used to describe the space between the planets.
  • Air - Wind currents can be manipulated.
  • Fire - One can control flames and heat.
  • Wood - Represents not only the bark of trees, but also physical components of organic life.
  • Water - Water comprises of oceans, seas, rivers and other bodies of water.
  • Earth - Earth comprises the stone and rock of the world.
  • Metal - Metal represents gemstones and refined minerals.

Worlds

Erudite

Erudite is the planet at the center of the universe. All other celestial bodies orbit around it making it the center of a geocentric system. It has a diameter of approximately 24,000 kilometers though its hollow interiors make it less dense than most of the other worlds nearby. Its gravity has been measured at 9.81 meters per second.

Erudite has two moons, Isha and Kosa, as well as a ring known as Isha's Grace.

Isha

One of Erudite's moons, Isha is the remains of a god that was murdered. The event in which she was destroyed to form the ring system is known as the Shattering. The moon is in the shape of a giant snail shell spiral.

Kosa

The second of Erudite's moons which remains intact unlike her counterpart. It is also in the shape of a giant snail shell spiral.

Ouros

The last remains of the god Ouros make up the sun of Erudite's system. It is a dim red star that orbits Erudite alongside the other planets.

World of Starlight

Main article: World of Starlight

The farthest planet away, it is an airless rocky world where star sprites like to congregate. Smaller asteroids orbit it in large, scattered clusters. It represents the element of aether.

World of Gusts

A large gas giant covered in white, silvery clouds. Aside from the World of Flames, it is the most visible on Erudite’s surface as a bright star. It represents the element of air.

World of Flames

A planet close to the sun. It is covered entirely in lava, erupting volcanoes and shifting continents. It represents the element of fire.

World of Leaves

A planet smaller than Erudite covered in green moss and algae while its continental plates are held together by giant trees with roots that cover the planet’s core. It represents the element of wood.

World of Rain

A large world made entirely of water. Swirling storm clouds are the source of rain and thunder across its surface. It represents the element of water.

World of Clay

A small barren, rocky desert world with taller mountains and deeper valleys than anything on Erudite. It represents the element of earth.

World of Steel

A planet covered in large sheets of metal and crystalline pylons that surge with electricity. It represents the element of metal.

Brunikor

Brunikor is an in-between world home to the demons. It is another plane of existence where leftover chaos from the creation of the universe was sent.

Constellations

The stars seen from Erudite are positioned in a way that they form patterns in the sky known as constellations. While many cultures have given them different names, the most commonly used names are as follows:

  • The Sundial
  • The Crown
  • The Scythe
  • The Cross
  • The Sword
  • The Shield
  • The Rider
  • The Rose
  • The Hand
  • The Jester
  • The Gate
  • The Trio
