Shattering
The Shattering is a cataclysmic event that took place eons before recorded history. The evil god Vaskus murdered Isha, one of the moon goddesses - scattering the rocky remains of her corpse across the sky in a ring that later came to be known as Isha's Grace. In retaliation, Ouros and the other gods worked to destroy Vaskus, eventually sending his corpse to Erudite's core. The resulting battle, however, mortally wounded all of them, turning them into inert objects. Kosa and what was left of Isha became the moons and Ouros became the sun. Ema's corpse became a mountain range in Bhari'Adavi and Vaskus became the Deep Ekati around the planet's core.
Aftermath
The Shattering was Erudite's single most devastating event in history. Debris from Isha fell to the surface, creating a series of meteor impacts that not only left behind craters but also detonated any ekati ore veins that happened to be nearby. Smaller fragments crashed down to Eidyn and Khyorgan, creating massive dust clouds that blocked the sun, bringing Erudite into an ice age. The largest fragment crashed into the continent of Swen, completely obliterating all life there. This chain reaction naturally led to a reduction of the world's ekati supply which resulted in the mass extinction of various megafauna who sustained themselves from ekati ore events. The Protogenoi Dragons, the largest species of dragon to ever live, went functionally extinct as any survivors were forced to go into hibernation. The skeletons of these giant beings still dot much of Erudite's landscape today.
Even after the immediate effects of the debris impacts, there was more destruction to come. The death of Ouros, the source of Erudite's sunlight, also devastated various autotrophs as Ouros turned from a bright, shining blue to a dim red. The shadow of Isha's Grace created a cold equator which fundamentally transformed the planet's climate, creating massive hypercanes due to pressure and temperature differences. The reduction of Isha's mass also resulted in the tides changing drastically, resulting in tsunamis which sunk entire continents.
Miraculously, the continent of Bhari'Adavi was not struck by any of debris from Isha. While it suffered its own set of mass extinctions, the still plentiful ekati supply allowed many megafauna to survive and adapt. It is the closest to what Erudite may have looked like before the Shattering.
Because of the scale of the destruction of Erudite, there is virtually no evidence of any pre-Shattering civilizations remaining. The only artifacts from before that time are the Aard'Vorn, which were discovered in Brumal eons later.
