Menarans are a race of humanoids native to Gierkliff. While they appear very similar to humans, they have a very different biology. Their hair is largely made of plant matter which mature from seeds to either tree crowns or flowers. At a glance, it simply appears as either brown or green hair. Despite heavily resembling humans, Menarans cannot reproduce like other human-like races as they are instead born from the seeds of the Tree of Menara, a genetic clone of the Great Tree of Bossniri produced by the Seed of Menara.

Though Menarans age at the same rate as humans, they can live for hundreds of years should they remain in robust health.

The first four Menarans created were dubbed the Fae Guardians, four spiritual protectors of the Bossniri tree clone. They were named Fahy, Chlor, Suzette and Nyrida.

History

The Menarans first appeared when ancient Wood Elves from Khyorgan brought the Seed of Menara from Lexighor over to Eidyn in an attempt to create more instances of the Great Tree of Bossniri. The Wood Elves, being spread very thin, had difficulty tending to the instances of the tree. Thus, they used the Seed of Menara to create plant-based guardians to look after it for them. While they previously created the Kakoans by accident upon first using the Seed of Menara in Gierkliff, the Menarans were intended to be more robust, more capable of labor and less mischevious than their Kakoan counterparts.

Conflict would later erupt between the Wood Elves and the Menarans. When the demon known as the Kudzu took advantage of the chaos and invaded, the Wood Elves were forced to flee the continent back to Khyorgan. The Seed of Menara was deemed lost as the Kudzu decimated Gierkliff's civilization, but it was still protected within a hidden forest village.

Decline

The Menarans face a crisis after the Leir Empire stole the Seed of Menara in an attempt to gather all Aard'Vorn. With the Seed of Menara rendered inactive and the Tree of Menara destroyed, the Menarans no longer have a way to reproduce. As such, they are faced with the threat of extinction unless they can find a way to reactivate the Seed of Menara.
