High Elf

Heilinthar(translated: අධිතෝර්), also known as high elves, are a very small group among the elves found almost exclusively in the Outerlands region.

High Elves are some of the longest lived of elves, with the oldest individuals on record reaching over 5,000 years in age. Many of the original settlers of the Outerlands region are still alive well into the Steam Era. This comes with the side effect that high elves are practically unchanged in appearance ever since the earliest societies formed on Eidyn. Other subraces of elves find them of great interest due to their ancient lineage.

However, high elves are reputed as having a rather static culture incredibly resistant to societal change. They often refuse to adopt new technology from outsiders, preferring to develop their own. They still use magitek that was predominant during the late Antiquity Era and have barely created anything new since then. The simulacra are perhaps their most recent invention, created as a response to Leir's golems.

Physiology

High elves have bright, gold colored skin, bronze hair and shining blue eyes. They have somewhat of a homogenous appearance due to a lack of genetic diversity, and for the fact that they rarely have children as a means of ensuring they don't suffer from overpopulation. They are incredibly gifted with magical abilities, being a natural at what takes other mortals years of training to accomplish.

Although they have long lifespans, a common misconception is that they are immortal. High elves can succumb to disease or violence like any other mortal, but their deep pools of mana and their general resistance to aging has given them a reputation of being god-like beings.

As a consequence of their long lifespans, high elves perceive time very differently from other mortals. They naturally have a harder time forming any sort of attachment to the shorter-lived species as in the way they describe it, a few blinks for them and several years go by.

History

The High Elves from the Outerlands had an empire that rivaled the scale of Leir. Both were contemporaries often teaming up or fighting against one another. They saw themselves as ideologically superior. In the battlefield, the combat Leir's automatons, they would use simulacra - artificial beings animated with magic.

Known high elves

• Luminiferah - A high elf regarded as a goddess due to possessing the Aard'Vorn known as the Star Crown.
• Emperor Steladran - The Heilinthar emperor that has ruled the empire since its inception.
